AHH I am waaaay excited...I am gonna leave my house at around 6:15 to get there by 7:30...lol I have no idea what the traffic is going to be like. Don't forget to bring all that money for that stuff we have to pay for tomorrow....Just when I thought the dishing out was over lol...

I thought the only thing we "had" to pay for tomorrow was the skills kit? I wish I knew how much the books were going to be so I could go ahead and buy them too....

....does anyone out there have any clue about how much books are?

...and even more than that...what should we expect for the 8 hours that we are supposed to be there tomorrow? :uhoh3:

Ah yes! Orientation. Books are between $600 and $750 depending on the new vs used. Stethoscopes do not come in the skills kit, available in the bookstore though. You'll meet a few instructors, you'll get your first handouts for dosage calc and you'll get the schedule. I know I've said before that you have a lottery but the powers that be had a meltdown, therefore I don't know if you'll have a lottery or not for the classes.

SOme of the stuff that I received in my books that I thought were useful later on...RN notes (I take them to clinicals), Nutrinotes-toss up, used in Pharm sometimes. Don't buy the box of drug cards-waste of money since it doesn't have all the drugs like the drug books. I think that might be it. Its a long day, sorry I won't see you guys, I have class on Wednesday, but my buddies in Peds will be there.

Is it really 8 hours of info...or is it a lot of waiting? Just curious! I'm so ready to finally get something set in stone...

oh yeah...jeans and a shirt ok? i'm a jeans and sweat shirt kind of girl for an all day event like this one...just want to be sure i'm not underdressed.....it is school right? LOL

Hey all you FCCJ Summer '08 Nursing students! How was orientation today? I'm applying for Fall '08, but I'm really excited for all of you & was just curious about this much-anticipated day! Are they still doing the lottery for your schedules or did they change it?

Can't wait to here about y'alls long, informative day!!!

It is still the lottery...basically you pick a number out of a basket and then she calls you up by number starting with 1 and ending with whatever the last number is.... You can ask any questions you might have and we might be able to answer them...=)

Hi there all!

I am curious how your orientation went! I am about to start 2nd term, feel free to PM me if you have questions about teachers, classes, etc. It will fly by, believe me! I am stunned 1st term is already over.

Did they use the lottery for your registration? They have done away with it for ours. (grrr..) So for us it will be a mad dash to the computers to try to get the schedule we want!

It was a loooong day with a lot of repeat questions...which I'm not a fan of...but oh well :twocents:

Basically from 8-12 different people took turns talking about different parts of the program...introduced themselves and let us know what we needed to have done before class starts

Then they passed out the different sections (class schedules) you could chose from before lunch...we bought our skills kit (which i went through and i'm sure got waaay to excited about!) and then had lunch for 2 hours

When you get back you pick your number...wait for your number to be called and pick your section

We were all out of there by about 3:30

I can't wait to start though!!!! :bugeyes:
