I just got back from hand-delivering my application for the night/weekend track starting in January '08, and submitted my application with 217.2 points! Woo Hoo! I feel pretty good about this!
Okay....just had to get that out.
You just don't know how helpful it has been to read that you guys are stressing too! I am applying for the Spring 2008 term as well, with a total of 216 points. I was happy with my scores, but will save the dancing for the acceptance letter. :monkeydance:
I actually have to hand-deliver my application over the weekend because I have to take the CPR class. For some reason I thought you could wait until after your were accepted to get CPR certified. (I know, it's right on the app...I am a dork and just overlooked it)
Hope to meet you all in orientation!
hello! are there any fccj students applying for the RN program beginning spring 2008? the deadline to apply is october 1st and im wondering what kind of points other people have. im currently enrolled in mcb2010, so i don't have the points for that, but my total prerequisite points are 90, and i just took my NAT...academic aptitude 58
reading comprehension 31
natural science 75
total 164, multiplied by .64, is 104.9
so, if im doing this right, i have 194...
i've read on here that the cut-off is usually 180-185. is there a chance i won't get in with a 194?
thoughts? opinions? feelings?
thanks for your help!
Hi rnnn. Your calculation is correct. with 194, I think you're as good as in! :-) Did you apply for days or nights?

Hi s2ndstar! I applied with 217 points, so I should see you there! :) But, like you, I'm saving my celebration until mid-November when we get our letters (like the second week of November). Did you apply for days or nights?
Hi np_wannabe!
I am applying for days and putting nights as my second choice. From what I understand though, nights has the least spots so I should get days. My job is going to work with my schedule and I would prefer to have Sat & Sun for studying. Aside from the schedule difference, have you ever heard that one is better than the other? (In terms of clinical assignments, teachers, etc..)
Keep me posted on your letter!

Hi s2ndstar.
The night or day schedule is better depending on your needs. I know a few people who have done nights/weekends because they had to maintain their day job. I am choosing nights/weekends because I have a 2 and 4 year old that I still want to spend as much time with as possible.
There have been a few posts about what the schedules have been in the previous semesters, if you are curious.
keep me posted on your letter too! :-)

i don't know what to do about days/nights! i need to figure it out very soon! i think i might just apply for night/weekend, because from what i understand there are limited spots, and if i don't get in for that, just take days. i like the idea of less people at night and clinicals on the weekend... does anyone know where clinicals are done and whether or not we can chose an instructor based on where they go for clinicals? im talking like im already in with 194 points, but i assure you im very apprehensive about the acceptance... ugh, i don't understand why it takes 8 weeks. what a bummer.
np_wannabe,
I have been checking out the schedules on the other posts. They all seem workable to me. To be perfectly honest, I will take whatever I can get! ;D But, if I end up having to leave my current job, I can make better money waiting tables for dinner and/or weekends than lunch shifts. I will have to work some while in school (ugh!), at least part time, so it seems best for me to do the day program.
I will certainly keep you posted! The wait for that letter is going to be brutal!
Heather77~Did you end up applying for the day AND night track? did you actually have to submit two of everything: applications, CPR card copies, transcripts, etc?
THX.
Hey, I called and they said to apply 1st choice and 2nd choice all on the same app. I applied for nights as my first choice, although I'm sure I won't get in on nights cause my points are so low...

Hi Heather.
I applied for nights. I'm 34, married for 10 years, and have two children, ages 2 and 4 (they'll be 3 and 5 in February).
