FAU BSN 2013-Traditional or Accelerated

U.S.A. Florida

Anyone out there that is applying to start the FAU Nursing program in May 2013? I have submitted my application for the accelerated program. It is the only program I am applying for so I am really hoping to receive an acceptance letter! I realize it will be quite some time until we know either way and thought we could get some conversation going among applicants.

who did the optional essay or send letter of references?

I am sorry to hear about the denials :( I wish all of you the best of luck in pursing your nursing degrees/careers!

I am so very thankful that I have been offered admission because my GPAs were not exactly competitive.. it must have been my TEAS score that saved me. I'm also an FAU alumni, not sure if that made a difference or not.

GPA: 3.48 university (B.S Biology)

3.5 overall with cc dual enrollment credits

Science GPA: 3.21

TEAS: 99th percentile; 93.3% on the exam.

@meddvd Barry was very easy in fact I was admitted prior to finishing my science pre-reqs and they do not require TEAS. That said there are several additional pre-reqs Barry requires: theology, philosophy, medical ethics and I need to retake chemistry because mine did not qualify (seems they are a bit picky with this)... For UM I gave up when looking at their application (it is due today) ... It is very

Sorry... Cut off... The UM application is very difficult if you are an adult student. Even the transfer application is really geared towards highschool students or current first degree college students. They short answer required is on your highschool extrcurriculars...for me that was 10 years ago!

I applied last year and was not accepted. Over the past year I re-took 2 courses and received A's (FAU has the "two course forgiveness" thing) and I started at a job from which I have gained many health certifications and great experience. This year I completed all sections of the application. I was especially detailed with the health experience section (or whatever it was called). I don't know how much they were taking these things into consideration. But with my 3.7 science GPA and 99th Percentile TEAS score I was still uncertain as to whether or not I would be accepted. For those who are looking for another option, I would definitely suggest looking into programs elsewhere. I also applied to UNF, USF and UCF. I believe USF and UCF have a later deadline for a Fall 2013 class. I know they're far but if you're determined this could be a way. Best of luck to all of you!!

I still haven't heard either way. I really hope I get an email today, I applied back in september and I can't take any more waiting! lol

Waiting is better than a "declined" message, right? :) Best of luck to all those still waiting!!!! It seems like declined messages went out in a batch yesterday but I have to say the credentials of those declined are very good. Perhaps they had to look more at our individual TEAS scores instead of just the national % rank. I am sure another round of acceptance letters will go out after the 8th.

I hope its not going to take another week...I have a 4.0 gpa and got a 94 on the teas which is 99th percentile. I'll try to be patient, but I think this wait is a bit excessive. Anyway, congratulations for those of you that did get in!

I would hope to god you get in with those numbers!

Thank you for the alternative program suggestions and for the background information you gave urbana1990. I was thinking to myself... I shouldnt feel sorry for myself for not being accepted since there was probably several applicants who have applied previously. You deserve it even more then I do; Best of Luck!

Hey guys! I just got my denial email :(. But its okay because I will have chances to apply to other programs. They said that they did not have any specific reason as to why I got denied. All the best to everyone else on their future endeavors and hopefully the people who are still waiting on their decisions get their emails soon!

I am shocked at the credentials of those that have been declined, I would have thought that with a score in the high 90's on the TEAS and a GPA that is the equivalent of an A ... EESH!!! SOOOOOO competitive, I knew that it would be, but I didn't think it would be THAT intense. All I can figure is that the school had to look at secondary criteria to make the final decision, because it seems as though everyone who received an acceptance letter has very similar GPA and TEAS scores. I'm wondering if the traditional was more competitive than the accelerated?
