I haven't seen a thread directed at applicants for this application cycle, so I figured I'd start one! Just one month left until applications open. Who's ready? :) I figure we can meet here to discuss any questions or issues with applications, provide support and feedback to fellow applicants, as well as introduce ourselves as potential future classmates! Communication is, after all, critical for all nurses.
I actually have a question to start us off. The pre-requisites listed for the program mention "College Algebra or equivalent" for science GPA calculations. In my case, I took a few more advanced mathematics courses for my degree, and I have a better grade in Calculus than I do in College Algebra. I can only chalk it up to it being my first semester in college. Does anyone know if they will count my Calc grade instead? It means the difference between a 3.8 and 3.9 for my science GPA.
Great! I shall call it...FAU Accelerated BSN Class of 2015. Hopefully you can search for it under that title. I won't worry about the lab coat for now.
Hey everyone, for lab coats I called MorUniversity and they said ours were delayed so we should get them probably early June but FAU is aware of that. They added them in late or something with the package. And the shoes can be sneakers or medical shoes. Just make sure they are all white. I've uploaded documents on the certified background website. It's pretty easy, just scan the documents to your computer and under the "to do list" on your profile there's a link for each document you need uploaded.
Hi All... I did ask about shoes and they must be closed toe with a back (no "clogs" ) leather and ALL white ... no colored logos at all (which I have noticed is harder to find than one would think) I ordered a pair of adidas cheer shoes (random I know but one of the reviews was actually from a nursing student who needed solid white for clinicals and she said she loves them!) ... they were about $40. For those of you who have gotten uniforms how was the sizing? I heard from students at FSU that they run big and you should order a size down.
Oh, I was afraid of that Heather. Let's give this a try.... https://www.facebook.com/groups/1467783330119363

Yes, I did read an announcement they sent out earlier this year about not using Magnus any more (On the CON's main page). So if you are a transfer student, I think you'll need to turn in your immunization records to both FAU's health services and certified background.
As for the blackboard, I haven't seen anything yet. On Saturday, they said they were hoping to have it up in the next couple weeks. So hopefully soon!
Is anyone here interested in having a Facebook group? My allnurses app isn't working and I heard the students mention it was very handy having one. I could start one for the absn.
literally as I'm typing my uniforms came by UPS.... Woohoo. No lab coat though :-/ hmmm?
