FAU 2014 ABSN applicants

I haven't seen a thread directed at applicants for this application cycle, so I figured I'd start one! Just one month left until applications open. Who's ready? :) I figure we can meet here to discuss any questions or issues with applications, provide support and feedback to fellow applicants, as well as introduce ourselves as potential future classmates! Communication is, after all, critical for all nurses.

I actually have a question to start us off. The pre-requisites listed for the program mention "College Algebra or equivalent" for science GPA calculations. In my case, I took a few more advanced mathematics courses for my degree, and I have a better grade in Calculus than I do in College Algebra. I can only chalk it up to it being my first semester in college. Does anyone know if they will count my Calc grade instead? It means the difference between a 3.8 and 3.9 for my science GPA.

The one I took was 4 hours in length, and had the same title as those (BLS for healthcare providers). I asked Dr. D and she confirmed that course meets the requirements. :)

I'm looking into financial aid and I don't seem to be able to find the "Money Matters!" tab in MyFAU. Has anyone else had this problem? I guess there'll be plenty of aid talk at orientation, anyway.

When I look at the self service section, there is a tab that says Financial Aid. Everything you might need is under there I do believe.

It isn't that course. ..it is bls. That is different. You can see another option at cprflorida.net called health care provider.

If you click the link it says Healthcare Provider BLS at the top. It isn't a heartsaver course.

What other nursing programs are/were you considering? Does anyone know how to retake any courses that received a C? I can't retake at Broward but also FAU's schedule is not accommodating since I still need to work at this point. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

That's a tough one . . I believe it can ONLY be retaken at a university . . You just might have to make some different arrangements with work?
