FAU 2014 ABSN applicants

U.S.A. Florida

I haven't seen a thread directed at applicants for this application cycle, so I figured I'd start one! Just one month left until applications open. Who's ready? :) I figure we can meet here to discuss any questions or issues with applications, provide support and feedback to fellow applicants, as well as introduce ourselves as potential future classmates! Communication is, after all, critical for all nurses.

I actually have a question to start us off. The pre-requisites listed for the program mention "College Algebra or equivalent" for science GPA calculations. In my case, I took a few more advanced mathematics courses for my degree, and I have a better grade in Calculus than I do in College Algebra. I can only chalk it up to it being my first semester in college. Does anyone know if they will count my Calc grade instead? It means the difference between a 3.8 and 3.9 for my science GPA.

I called the college and the lady said if we didn't get accepted she did think that the college would send out denial emails as well. I guess since I haven't received either there is still hope. . . It makes me nervous cause when I received my email for the interview it didn't show up in my inbox until midnight but when I opened the email itself it was time stamped at 5pm therefore there was a delay in delivery. . .

I made it! (My email came earlier today) so excited to start this journey with you all... for those who are still waiting don't loose hope! And remember no matter what happens you are amazingly talented to have made it this far and you will find your perfect success story. I didn't make it last year, I know it's hard, but everything happens for a reason!

So as I am sitting here reading The Help (it's amazing by the way) ... it has finally sunk in that I am nursing student now! Is anyone doing anything to prepare? I have heard there are a few student success guides that can be helpful but can no longer find the threads that list them.

I filled out a FAFSA today and have started to look into scholarships (although none are available for summer). I've gotten my BLS done and I'm going in for my immunizations next week. That's my plan, until orientation at least. Then the hunt for books, scrubs, and a stethoscope is on. :)

I'm right there with you Quendi. I also did my FASFA today, have my BLS, and going to start immunizations next week. :-) I'm debating wether to renew my BLS. I did it for clinicals in phlebotomy a year ago so it has a year left I believe. I may wait to save $$ :-/

Has anybody heard anything today? Rejections? Wait list? For those who were accepted yesterday--did the RSVP have a time today that you were supposed to respond by?

Thanks, and congrats to all who were accepted.

Congrats to those who have been accepted! I unfortunately did not make it to the interview and the college is not able to give any input due to the number of applicants. If any of you (accepted or even interviewed) would mind re-posting what your science GPA, graduating GPA and TEAS score was it would be GREATLY appreciated!! I'm on the fence about waiting another year to apply but certainly would if I thought I had a chance. My concern is that I did not designate my TEAS scores or connect with FAU Z number when applying so could have been something as simple as that as to why I did not get interview. I'm not sure if I can receive emails on here but if you don't want to post it and wouldn't mind emailing me, I would be so grateful! I had one C in A&P I that I took online which I would not mind retaking if that boost could help. My biggest concern is waiting another year when even doing that does not put me in an excellent position for application next year. I'm a mom with 2 kids so I'm trying to be very strategic about the process!!

I'm super excited for you all who will be starting and hope you post to let us know how it's going. Congratulations!

I have not heard anything, I have called several times, they keep saying just keep checking your emails . Everyone should receive an email ! So frustrating!!!!

Frustrating is right, any12. I have resisted calling thus far...but if I haven't heard anything by later this afternoon I may give in. When you called, did they confirm that every interviewee would get an email, either yay or nay??

We were told to RSVP by 4pm today either way.

Did anyone get a response when they accepted? I'm worried that my email didn't go through.

I got an email back within a couple of hours thanking me for my prompt response. I sent mine around 1pm yesterday.
