FAU 2014 ABSN applicants

U.S.A. Florida

I haven't seen a thread directed at applicants for this application cycle, so I figured I'd start one! Just one month left until applications open. Who's ready? :) I figure we can meet here to discuss any questions or issues with applications, provide support and feedback to fellow applicants, as well as introduce ourselves as potential future classmates! Communication is, after all, critical for all nurses.

I actually have a question to start us off. The pre-requisites listed for the program mention "College Algebra or equivalent" for science GPA calculations. In my case, I took a few more advanced mathematics courses for my degree, and I have a better grade in Calculus than I do in College Algebra. I can only chalk it up to it being my first semester in college. Does anyone know if they will count my Calc grade instead? It means the difference between a 3.8 and 3.9 for my science GPA.

yayyy! Congrats guys! I just want to ask what else we need to do for the program. I heard we need to do a $200 deposit and also immunizations! Anything else?

If you haven't done your BLS course yet, you will need that as well.

Is the $200 for FAU admission? Or the nursing program?

I haven't received any email yay or nay. Like the emails for the interviews...is no news bad news??

I think they will let you know either way. I haven't seen anyone post about being wait listed either.

I would hope that at this point, at least a quick rejection email wouldn't be too much to as for. ...Still have fingers crossed.

I called and they said the $200 fee isnt needed for transfer students only freshman

That's what I thought. It's a new thing they are implementing for incoming freshman to FAU. They admit a lot of people, and I'm sure loads accept and never show up.

Is there two orientations we need to go to? One for nursing and one for the school?

March 13 for a positive response, I am almost ready to give up my superstitions! I am in too and just sent the "no, thank you" response. I'm kidding, of course. See you all at the beginning of the next month for orientation! Also, a little question for those who know more, where do you ask what scholarships are available for nursing students and where to apply for those? I need money for the first semester as I am going with the non-resident status (which burns my skin :).

Congrats again!

Hey Daniela! Under the ABSN section in the FAQ, there is a link to the available scholarships. :)

Sigh empty inbox for me. . .

EVEYONE CHECK YOUR SPAM! THAT'S WHERE I FOUND MINE! I was accepted as well woohoo! :)
