I haven't seen a thread directed at applicants for this application cycle, so I figured I'd start one! Just one month left until applications open. Who's ready? :) I figure we can meet here to discuss any questions or issues with applications, provide support and feedback to fellow applicants, as well as introduce ourselves as potential future classmates! Communication is, after all, critical for all nurses.
I actually have a question to start us off. The pre-requisites listed for the program mention "College Algebra or equivalent" for science GPA calculations. In my case, I took a few more advanced mathematics courses for my degree, and I have a better grade in Calculus than I do in College Algebra. I can only chalk it up to it being my first semester in college. Does anyone know if they will count my Calc grade instead? It means the difference between a 3.8 and 3.9 for my science GPA.
I have no clue what happened with my plans with FAU...but I have no plans on waiting another year. I met with Broward today and they seemed really nice. She explained that they sometimes have students they give lots of chances to and they just dont turn in one paper or whatever. It sounds like maybe they get more students that really are not serious enough. She said most adult students (or I guess older or 2nd degree students) do very well and can handle the hard comments or whatever comes at them. She did say it is difficult but they really prepare you for the nclex. So...all is not lost :) I agree about the prereq classes. I had lots of people in my classes that I didnt think took it serious or really belonged there. Many people cheating and such. I think those are the ones that make the stats so bad! That's my plan B and there are tons of mixed reviews about all three campuses if you do a search on here u will read about it. . . Some classes starting with like 70 students and graduating with like 30 students or less! ! ! ! But then again I took my prerequisites there and I could have swore I couldn't imagine half of the students in the class being nurses or in nursing school at least. . No offense.
I'm not certain anything really happens. There may be extraneous circumstances that lead this to happen, but it is likely frowned upon. Hopefully they would have enough time to invite those who are wait listed. I'm thinking they might be wanting an RSVP by tomorrow so that they may move some more up the list in the event that some refuse? Just a guess.

And does anyone know if we need to get the BLS done before the semester starts?
