FAU 2014 ABSN applicants

Published

I haven't seen a thread directed at applicants for this application cycle, so I figured I'd start one! Just one month left until applications open. Who's ready? :) I figure we can meet here to discuss any questions or issues with applications, provide support and feedback to fellow applicants, as well as introduce ourselves as potential future classmates! Communication is, after all, critical for all nurses.

I actually have a question to start us off. The pre-requisites listed for the program mention "College Algebra or equivalent" for science GPA calculations. In my case, I took a few more advanced mathematics courses for my degree, and I have a better grade in Calculus than I do in College Algebra. I can only chalk it up to it being my first semester in college. Does anyone know if they will count my Calc grade instead? It means the difference between a 3.8 and 3.9 for my science GPA.

Hah never know. . . I checked the email that was sent out for interviews and it was actually sent out on Thursday afternoon although we had expected them to be sent out on Friday. . But no matter when they get sent out. . . I can already see the light at the end of the tunnel. . . Leading us into a new chapter of our lives, if we get in or not. . . Good luck to us all. .

How is everyone handling this wait.? . ? . Out of all the nursing school I think FAU has the quietest forum. .

Give it a couple of days and it won't be quiet anymore. XD I've been checking out some of the other ABSN threads and it seems they are getting their letters or doing interviews at the moment. We will be on that train very shortly.

It's just funny how the thread just went completely dead. . . But anyways at least FAU is going to email us. . I was reading other threads and some school was using snail mail. . But that might be better cause once the mail came and nothing was there you could at least relax for the day as opposed to checking your email inbox all day lol

I am sure this thread will be all kinds of crazy tomorrow. UNF just released their decisions, UF just released their decisions last week, UCF should be as early as this Friday or as late as the last Friday in March. Not sure about the other schools. Those were some I applied to and some that others applied to. I hope everyone hears good news on Friday and gets what they want! By the end of this month, everyone's stress levels should go back to normal...till May lol.

That's crazy how all these university are giving out decision letters this month and FIU application deadline is this Saturday.

That's excellent, Brianna! I hope you received plenty of offers. :)

Brianna, I second Quendi! Which are your top choices?

The wait is almost over guys! Hope everyone is staying busy and not driving themselves crazy with anxiety; whatever happens is meant to be :)

I currently do not have a first choice, I got denied at UNF so I am down to FAU and UCF and is kind of where I get accepted. I didn't apply to UF because of the GRE. I will be anxiously awaiting Friday like you all :)

Hi All... so close... aahhh! I am going to reask a question since it seems folks are hopping back on to the thread. So part of my relaxing (because I am super crazy) is preparing my plan B ... Does anyone have any thoughts/opinions/experience with Broward College?

That's my plan B and there are tons of mixed reviews about all three campuses if you do a search on here u will read about it. . . Some classes starting with like 70 students and graduating with like 30 students or less! ! ! ! But then again I took my prerequisites there and I could have swore I couldn't imagine half of the students in the class being nurses or in nursing school at least. . No offense.

My back-up is just working full-time for a year, retaking the TEAS, and reapplying to a bunch of schools. I only applied to FAU this go-round; it is the best, after all :)
