Has anybody used the FamilyNPPrep practice exams and passed ANCC or AANP? If so what were your scores? I am preparing to take the ANCC this Friday. I have been taking the Family NP Prep exams and feeling discouraged. I received an 88% on an APEA practice exam but I am receiving roughly 70%'s on the FamilyNPPrep exams. I am afraid this is so close to failing I have no idea how I will do on the actual exam.
Any thoughts?
Wow, this is the first time I known someone who can take the test that quick. First you have to finish the program, UNTIL the last day of class, then the program director fax the paper to AANP, then they (AANP) have to email you the pass notification, then they give the code in the mail for the test, then you have to schedule your test which, usually is not whatever date you want, you have to select the date that is left, I personally have to wait for space of two weeks.... the first student in my class who pass took 25 days, we are 48.Then, I have not meet anyone going to the test without reading, preparing at least, most of us work and study, I know two who did not work and they spend more time studying... so, this sounds WAY to good to be true... about the review is not necessary, it may be possible, but I will think you have have to study in the last semester of school, which for us we have over 300 hrs of clinicals plus class... then, why to buy the 10 exam questions, if so, you already know what is in the test... they were helpful or just reinforce what you already know?... No problem with the answers? mmm, they were all correct?
They say that many of the reviews in Amazon and other companies are written for people paid to give their opinion because "reviews" work as a marketing tool... so... I am not sure about your comment.
Thanks for sharing...
I believe this poster, has posted about their success with the exam on previous postings, and looking at their history will show you those postings. Nothing that was said in here is in conflict with those previous postings, so I would not be so sure to assume this is not an accurate report of their history.
A suggestion would be to do a little research prior to telling the world someone else's post is not the truth....
It is actually possible to get AANP approval quite early. I had my authorization to test within a week of finishing....the AANP lets you send in an application with an official transcript prior to completion of the program - it just has to show progress up to that point. You can't actually TEST until you've graduated and sent your final transcript, but they can have the app ready to go. You're supposed to get their letter and then Prometric approval a week later, but they came within a day or two of each other for me. The early birds get processed much faster, before the onslaught of May grads. You can apply up to 6 months before graduation.
I waited to test so I could take the Fitzgerald review and study for 6 weeks, but I certainly could have tested much earlier if I'd felt ready. Confidence-wise, I needed the study time. In reality, I probably would have passed anyway as I felt like the exam had a LOT of things I'd never seen in a review book as well as some things that were very basic and that I'd known from prior coursework. At a level of gee what electrolyte would you check a week after starting an ACE inhibitor....but obviously I wasn't taking chances with something so important and a job waiting.
fmAtoZandbackagain, it is doable. The AANP let's you start your application 6months before you graduate. I actually submitted my paperwork 2weeks before the end of school. In my last semester I studied for the school's comprehensive exam and when I passed that, I wanted to take the exam 3days after as I had already received my ATT the day i finished. I took a longer time as my husband wanted me to study more.
After I passed the school's comprehensive, I came here and saw the website for exam edge. I went on their page and purchased the test. I took one exam a day ( I did only 8 as I studied the Leik book also). On the day of the exam, went to take it after it showed me I passed and then sent official transcript from school when they showed I wasn't owing anything.
It may sound good to be true but it is doable. For all my review I actually spent 100dollars (70 for the exam, 25 for the Leik book). A friend borrowed me her Hollier CD.

I graduated in May and took the AANP exam in June, and I found the questions to be very helpful. I think that each individual has to find what works for them.
