Those tests are crap. Myself and many of my classmates bought them, and then we requested refunds because of how ridiculously stupid they were. I am a recent AGNP grad, and I passed both the ANCC and the AANP tests. These practice exams are NOTHING like the real things, and they test on stuff not in my scope, such as acute care and L&D stuff. Blah. You'll be fine without these bringing down your confidence level.
I purchased 20 exams for the FNP ANCC exam and I believed they helped me tremendously!
I averaged about 70% on my exams too. By the time I got to the 20th exam I was up to 80%. When I went in and took my exam I felt over prepared (which is a good thing!) and thought the exam was relatively easy.
Bumashes, maybe you accidentally got the wrong test content? You have to specify which test (ANCC or AANP) and which specialty you are in (FNP, AGNP, PHMHNP, ect)
I agree that you should not base your likelihood of passing on these scores. I scored 70s to 80s on fnpprep and passed ancc without issue. I did not feel the tests were all that similar to real exam. The only useful part is it may make you more comfortable with test taking in general. At least in my opinion.
To anyone willing to know now...I bought 10 exam questions and I will say they were very helpful and I passed AANP 10days after completing school without taking a review course. Everyone has their opinion but I will say the exams are not trash. Their questions with rationale was very helpful and it got me in an exam mode. I mostly scored high 60-low 70. My highest was 76. Although I will say there were some repetition as you continued through the exams but not many.
I passed AANP 10days after completing school without taking a review course.
Wow, this is the first time I known someone who can take the test that quick. First you have to finish the program, UNTIL the last day of class, then the program director fax the paper to AANP, then they (AANP) have to email you the pass notification, then they give the code in the mail for the test, then you have to schedule your test which, usually is not whatever date you want, you have to select the date that is left, I personally have to wait for space of two weeks.... the first student in my class who pass took 25 days, we are 48.
Then, I have not meet anyone going to the test without reading, preparing at least, most of us work and study, I know two who did not work and they spend more time studying... so, this sounds WAY to good to be true... about the review is not necessary, it may be possible, but I will think you have have to study in the last semester of school, which for us we have over 300 hrs of clinicals plus class... then, why to buy the 10 exam questions, if so, you already know what is in the test... they were helpful or just reinforce what you already know?... No problem with the answers? mmm, they were all correct?
They say that many of the reviews in Amazon and other companies are written for people paid to give their opinion because "reviews" work as a marketing tool... so... I am not sure about your comment.
Thanks for sharing...
I have bought a package of their exams, and find them very helpful. If anything, having 100 questions with full rationale is useful for remembering little facts here and there. Our school has us use Barkley for predictor exams, which for many is the gold standard, and I find the questions to be fairly similar. Plus, the only reason I know about the exams is a couple of friends who passed their FNP AANP exam in the last year recommended the site to me. For the price I find them very helpful.

Has anybody used the FamilyNPPrep practice exams and passed ANCC or AANP? If so what were your scores? I am preparing to take the ANCC this Friday. I have been taking the Family NP Prep exams and feeling discouraged. I received an 88% on an APEA practice exam but I am receiving roughly 70%'s on the FamilyNPPrep exams. I am afraid this is so close to failing I have no idea how I will do on the actual exam.
Any thoughts?
