All these NPs making less than RNs?

I think that happens with RN and BSN, people got the same salary, well I got 25 dollars every 2 weeks more. When I started in a new hospital the LVNs used to challenged and trick me to show me they knew more practical things, than me as BSN. I agree with you, but unfortunately we as nurses tend to disrespect our peers. We had a class in the school that put down new nurses who started FNP program, they told them they could not be good FNP if they did not have experience, which for me does not make sense, our view is different, we have a different perspective of the patient situation in my opinion. The lack of respect is also by class of nursing we do, for example the ICU nurses they feel they know more than Tele nurses, Tele nurses feel they know more than Med-Surg nurses.. etc. which is wrong.

NP to DNP - trying to decide

The way I see it is to gain respect of our profession, not now, but in the future. How many times have you seen a patient and they will ask why a nurse, like we know less, they want to see the doctor, thinking the will get less quality of care from a nurse, when is proven otherwise. Our profession has not received the respect that we show in the outcome studies. We are considered as middle level. The only way is to get in research, improve the outcomes with a well planned and systematic approach. Now, about the money, possibly will be the same as master. If I can, I will continue with a PhD, but DNP is more in line with my professional plan.

I will agree about the money PMFB-RN, but the way I see it is to gain respect of our profession, not now, but in the future. Our profession has not received the respect that we show in the outcome studies. We are considered as middle level... why?

In Texas, for what I know is not pay difference between FNP and DNP.

    FamilyNPPrep Test Scores

Wow, this is the first time I known someone who can take the test that quick. First you have to finish the program, UNTIL the last day of class, then the program director fax the paper to AANP, then they (AANP) have to email you the pass notification, then they give the code in the mail for the test, then you have to schedule your test which, usually is not whatever date you want, you have to select the date that is left, I personally have to wait for space of two weeks.... the first student in my class who pass took 25 days, we are 48. Then, I have not meet anyone going to the test without reading, preparing at least, most of us work and study, I know two who did not work and they spend more time studying... so, this sounds WAY to good to be true... about the review is not necessary, it may be possible, but I will think you have have to study in the last semester of school, which for us we have over 300 hrs of clinicals plus class... then, why to buy the 10 exam questions, if so, you already know what is in the test... they were helpful or just reinforce what you already know?... No problem with the answers? mmm, they were all correct? They say that many of the reviews in Amazon and other companies are written for people paid to give their opinion because "reviews" work as a marketing tool... so... I am not sure about your comment. Thanks for sharing...

NP vs PA duties in critical care

Mid level: Set you up below some other professional... we are not more or less than any MD, or PA, we are different, we are trained differently, our background is different. We work with everybody, PT, OT, RT, etc. (we are team oriented), and the patient is more than an illness to "heal", they are people, and they have family and other factors which makes a difference in how we assist them.

NP vs PA duties in critical care

That's the problem... it could be anywhere, but the internet is not the best source anyways

    I Passed ANCC FNP today!!!

Thank you for sharing. I also think knowing about how they do questions is very important, they have a great tips about their questions in the first volume of their review (ANCC). Many of my questions in AANP were 1st level, were you have straight question with a straight answer. Second level that you have to think how to answer and there are 2 factors playing were some questions in the test and third level were they talk about an illness but they mingle with other illness or complication and you have to take that in your consideration for your answer are just a few. The stats, ethics, legal are in my opinion straight forward.

    Passed AANP FNP

Thank you SuccessfullLady. I am sorry, the ANCC books, they have 2 volumes, and the 1,000 FNP necessary questions from https://www.necessaryworkshops.com/books/NECESSARY-FNP-1000-QUESTIONS--3. Exam Edge have a website for each test available, many questions are the same, I think if you have questions they should help you to do well in the test, no matter what test. I understand that ANCC has more research, stats, administration, but in general the questions should prepare you for any test, and the level should be the same. I believe that, the way you prep for the test should be different, ANCC and AANP has differences for the content, duration and way they present the questions, now I have not taken the ANCC and I want to see if is a large difference in the medical questions level. I know this year the AANP conference had an open session about people who want to write questions for the test. The process for ANCC was longer (6 weeks!) and problematic (First the form was wrong, then the ANCC processor person could not find my program director form until I called and complained with anyone (and everyone), even my director sent another email with the copy of the form, which was all correct), AANP replied and processed the application in days, was really well done, and great instant communication about my questions. The reporting to my board takes also longer time from ANCC than AANP, those are cons to consider. Well you can get your permit faster if you pay 200 dollars more! A classmate got ANCC the same time than I got AANP

What is a reasonable new grad offer?

Mr. redlion777 You sound more like NOT an NP, you way to think is different. Nurses value partnership, no a boss who can make money out of you because he is the boss. The idea to make money as MD is silly, we ALL know if you want to be a doctor go to med school, but LOWER THE BAR TO BE NP??? I can tell you that I know some MD with subspecialty makes less money than a NP for a fact, but they love what they do and work for a health system. The view as NP "VALUE" if you are one, WHICH I will question, is different, we are not only for the money, but we understand when someone wants to take you for a ride. I knew a LVN who did ALL the stress test for a cardiologist for a simple salary, is that fair? I guess we all need a job, and is always someone who will do it. Is that legal, maybe not. That is why some doctors end in Jail and some they get a big fines by Medicare/Medicaid.

    I Passed ANCC FNP today!!!

Congratulation and thank you for sharing. Do they tell you if you passed after the test? I am thinking to take the ANCC just to see how different they are, I am worry if I did not pass what the board of nursing will do. How long did you study for the ANCC? In the AANP if you take a break takes time from your test time, is the same in the ANCC? Do they have sounds for lung, heart or others?
