Hello Fellow Nurses,
I am looking for anyone who might have experience in this matter. Please no judgement. I will continue to fight this as I believe myself to be innocent.
Let me preface this predicament I am in by saying I have already retained council and my lawyer and I will be further communicating about this on Friday. A bit about my situation. I have been an ICU nurse for 7 years. I love my career. I am a mother to four small children all under 7. My spouse and I, had a very difficult relationship (years of fighting which turned abusive and physical in the past years). While I was at work, my ex-spouse took out a temporary restraining order accusing me of domestic violence and child abuse. There were no criminal charges filed. Everything has been adducted in family court. My spouse pulled a lot of people out of the woodworks to make me look like a crazy person. The judge did not substantiate child abuse but did substantiate domestic violence. Again, nothing criminal, just family court.
Please no judgement here. I am already disheartened by this situation. The restraining order is for 1 year. I am up for license renewal in September in California and New York in December.
Has anyone had experience with a domestic violence restraining order that is not criminal and only occurred in family court in either of these states?

You seem to be faced with a lot of fairly serious allegations. I don't have any relevant legal experience, but a couple of things stand out to me.
AN is a public forum. I suggest that you not discuss details of your legal situation here, at least until you check with an attorney. Personal support is important, but best kept private. Therapy?
I akso think you should read your state's nurse practice act and BON website. Does your lawyer have experience with your state's BON?
Meanwhile, I can't imagine dealing with all this while pulling shifts in ICU to pay for it all.
Take care of yourself.
I have changed a lot of information so that it is non-identifiable.
My lawyer does have experience with licensing boards. I am not really looking for legal advice, more so if anyone has been through this situation.
Thank you for your support

I've been in this situation many times with my ex as well I am a victim with 2 small children. 3 times 2011 which he violated every restraining order and again in 2017 and again in 2020 . Always been in family court whether it's criminal or not if there's children, custody and divorce involved cases go to family court . Since all this I now have PTSD . My way of coping is through my work life being a nurse and helping others.

I am a registered nurse.
My husband and I are in the midst of a separation. We often have petty quarrels, and the last one led to a physical altercation where I was deemed the aggressor.
He has been granted an EX PARTE. Since then, I have received several harassing calls, messages, and slandering post from his family threatening to use this information (case) to intentionally jeopardize my nursing license.
I am what you would consider to be a novice nurse, but I am truly good at what I do and enjoy doing it.....I would hate for this toxic marriage jeopardize everything I have worked for. What should I do?
