Fall 2016 Wake Tech Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey Everyone,

I'm not new to this site, just new to actually joining and posting my own story since I myself am finally able to began the application process of applying to Wake Tech next Fall. Anyone else out there applying?

Not much but keep up the good work! I'm apply for yes for Fall 2016. Need to have the application in by January 31. Still need to do CNA (test out) without the class and do another teas. I took it last week and got in the 70's that's only 6 points. So I wanna take it at least two more times

What teacher did you have for Bio 168,169? Good luck with everything. Thank you for the advice. I still need to do teas and cna before next year. Time is flying by.

So glad to see someone else applying in July 2016! I will be as well! Still have to take a CNA course and the TEAS. I hope to take the TEAS before Christmas. In the spring I plan to take Developmental Psychology online while taking my CNA course. I'll be transferring my other pre-req classes in from another school. Hoping to have everything completed by May so I can turn in my app. If you don't mind sharing, how many points is everyone sitting at? It looks like with the new change with the TEAS, the max number of points will be 216 instead of 246?

Hey! I am just starting the application process for Fall 2016 and I'm already a ball of anxiety! I take the TEAS on November 17th, and I am hoping for greater that a 91% so I can get the extra 20 points. I feel like I am going to need them since I will be lacking Micro for points. I ended up with a couple B's, so I am a little worried about that...it looks like the max points you can get (all A's and 20 points for the TEAS) is 216...is that right? I feel like I fall WAY short of that :( without Micro being finished and getting 20 points from the TEAS, I'm looking at about 172 points :barf02: It makes me sick just thinking about it! I am also applying elsewhere, but Wake Tech is my first choice! How is everyone else doing on points?

APeregoy I am sure you will be fine :) I am in the same boat with the B's. I am applying in the spring since I've heard that it's not as competitive as the fall. I was told that last spring as long as students had at least 177 points, they were admitted into the program. Of course points change every cycle. I have taken all prerequisites except for Developmental Psychology, which I plan to take online next semester. Right now, without that class, and hypothetically making a 91% or higher on the TEAS so I can get all 20 points, I would be sitting around 164. That's why I plan to go ahead and take that last Dev Psych course. Hopefully that will bump me up another 24 points, that way I can make up for some of my B's. Also, you are totally correct about the TEAS. With the change, students can only get a max of 214 points. I was told that most students typically score between 71-80% on the test which now is only 6 points.

It's tough to make a comparison with points from previous semesters since the amount of points you can get are so much different! The way I have figured it out is before the most you could get was 246, and for Fall 2015 if you had 190 or more you got in...so that's the points in the top 22-23%...so if the same holds true with less points, at 214, it would be like 167 or higher...I'm probably over thinking it ;) I am just so desperate to get in to nursing! I couldn't possibly wait until Spring to try! I hate the only thing I can do is score really well on the TEAS...otherwise it's like having 0 chance. I've been stressing this for a while and now it's here!

I wish you lots of luck!! How have you been preparing for the TEAS? I was going to sign up to take it at the end of November but I chickened out. I've had friends tell me it's super easy, and I've had others tell me it was tricky. Chemistry has always given me trouble so I am nervous about the science section.

I couldn't stomach paying all that money for the ATI practice kit, so I rented their study manual for like $13 on Amazon I think, and I've taken one of the practice tests from the back and the math and English is easy, the science is stuff I haven't done in so long, so I'm just reviewing everything in that book and taking a practice test each week to prepare myself. I have to take it now if I'm going to apply. So it's now or never! I can let you know more after I take it on the 17th, and see if what I'm doing actually works. From what I've heard that study manual is the best thing! I'm sure you'll do great!!

Has anyone taken Nutrition (BIO 155) yet? Is the course heavy in chemistry? Has anyone taken it online? Is the online version a challenge?

My advisor told me I could take sociology to replace nutrition. I'm not sure if that's a better option. I'm taking critical thinking and sociology next semester online. I'm in AP1 now, and this is by far the challenging course yet.

Thank you for the advice! I took Sociology and unfortunately got a B. I was also a full time student at the time. I plan to take Nutrition with only one other course so I am hoping to do better.

I already took SOC210 but also had a B, so I am taking BIO155 in the Spring (even though I know it won't count for points for Fall) I'm taking it online, I was hoping it would be easy, but I'm not sure!
