Hi all!
Thought I would start a thread for the fall semester! Anyone who wants to share their stats or anything about the application process can post them here! My stats as of now...
Pre-nursing GPA: 3.54
Science GPA: 3.67
HESI: 87.7
Pretty worried that my stats aren't good enough. Scored low on the A&P section of the HESI (80%) but made an A in the class...hoping maybe that will help even it out? I get discourage when I read through the other threads and see people get rejected with 4.0 GPA's and 90s on the HESI. I do have 80 volunteering hours at a children's hospital but I doubt that would help me enough.
I'll be 33 this month!!! Wow I really feel old and discouraged now.
I'm 31 but I'll be 32 this year :). Don't feel discouraged! The AVERAGE age was 27-32 - it changed each year. I'm actually kind of happy about the older age bracket - I feel like I'll have a lot more in common with my nursing brothers and sisters than the ones I've been in class with over the past couple of years. I was so old in comparison :)

Tell me about it, fall 2016 I took chemistry and we were 8 students total. All of them were just out of high school. Even the professor looked like she was in her late 20's.LOL.
I will be 27 in the fall. As far as Affirmative Action here is a quote from UT's webiste
Potential for service to Texas, with consideration given to Texas residency; applicant's goals for the future; multilingual proficiency; culture/socio-economic status, race/ethnicity, potential for future provision of health services to underserved areas or needed specialties; and linguistic skills appropriate to the Health Professions Shortage Area the applicant wishes to serve;
Motivation, with consideration given to success in overcoming adverse economic or educational conditions; employment history occurring simultaneously with undergraduate academic preparation; participation in activities requiring time management skills; constantly improving undergraduate record; veteran status, and experience in health-related activities;
I am bilingual but no where in the application did they ask about multilingual skills. Also, from previous threads I've read of applicants with high GPA's but still had a few science courses to take. The point I'm trying to make is that, yes, applicants have high GPA's but we don't know if they are missing a class or two or even missing too many prerequisites and thats why they are not admitted. I held a job all through out my undergraduate career and took a over the two years that it took me to complete the nursing prerequisites. But they don't even verify that with employers.

I'm kind of worried about this^. I only had two of my science pre-reqs completed when I applied with a 4.0. I completed my science this past semester and still maintained my GPA but I've heard they don't take that into account with the admissions decisions. I sent my transcript in as soon as I could anyways, in hopes that they'll take it into account, but I don't think they will. :/
But!!! We might hear something this week yous guys!!! Yayayaya!
Let me get back to you about the W thing. I email someone who is normally pretty good about emailing me back.

Hey hey!
I will absolutely let you know the moment I hear something. So far I have heard nothing. I know what you mean though. It has totally been on my mind since I heard it this past Friday. BUT if either you or I get waitlisted then that would mean that isn't the case. Cause if it is, they would even waitlist us they would just deny us. I guess we either wait to hear from the person I emailed or find out this week! Eeek! LOL
