Nursing program
Published
Hello, I am currently a student at Suffolk county community college preparing to apply for the nursing program for fall 2021 start. I figured I would start this early since the deadline was extended to March 1st 2021. I am preparing to take the TEAS in December most of my prerequisites are finished with a grade of A and one B. If anyone has some great tips on how to score in the 80s and 90s feel free to share. I wish everyone the best of luck.

I was wondering if anyone here got accepted without taking any prereqs? I have only taken MAT 103 and 2 English courses that are on the rubric. Hoping I still have a chance with a high TEAS score.
I was accepted and was missing A&P II and one English course. I had the other course requirements completed. According to the website , it states that the more courses that are completed, the greater the chance of admission. Those courses that are required help build your rubric score. If you have a really high TEAS score to kind of make up for the low rubric score, then I would say you have a chance. Did you score exemplary?

Completing A&P I and II helps a lot with the science section on the TEAS because a majority of it is focused on the body systems and their functions. You will eventually need to take it as it is part of the nursing curriculum. They obviously just recommend taking it sooner rather than later.
I was in the RN program from 2018-2020, uniform scrubs were required for SIM Lab which is typically taken the second year. They could've changed things since then. Make sure your uniform is always clean and ironed, they are particular about always looking professional.
Also someone asked about the Bridge program. I only know about the Stony Brook one, and they offered it to the top 60 students across both campuses, its based on your rubric score. You have to maintain your GPA above a 3.1 and stay on track with classes, so if you fail a class and have to retake it, you lose your seat at SB. If you don't get an initial nvitation for the bridge program see the director and ask about being placed on a wait list, because if someones GPA drops or fails a class, another seat will open up but its only offered to those on the waitlist for the bridge program.
I am currently in the bridge program and I think its great. I graduated May 16, 2020 and less than two weeks later started at SB. I liked the smooth transition and its all online but I liked having a physical campus to go to if I ran into problems. I also had always wanted to go to Stony Brook so its really personal preference.
Alot of classmates who did not go with a bridge program, did Chamberlain online and got their BSN in a year, but Chamberlain will visit the campus and set up a table, giving out information.
Best of luck and happy studying, its a great supportive program !
Hi everyone! I’m hoping to apply for the fall 2022 program. For those of you who were accepted into the fall 2021 program or previous years, what were your TEAS scores and rubric scores if you don’t mind sharing. Also, does anyone know how many seats are available for fall semester start dates? Thank you and best of luck to everyone applying!

Very surprised only a total of 11 students have found/joined the Grant RN facebook page
