FALL 2021 Nursing program at Suffolk county community college

Nursing program

Published

Hello, I am currently a student at Suffolk county community college preparing to apply for the nursing program for fall 2021 start. I figured I would start this early since the deadline was extended to March 1st 2021. I am preparing to take the TEAS in December most of my prerequisites are finished with a grade of A and one B. If anyone has some great tips on how to score in the 80s and 90s feel free to share. I wish everyone the best of luck.

Check out the Suffolk nursing site for the rubic they go for admission into the program. There’s 56 seats for the fall program. To be considered for program they are looking for TEAS scores at advanced score which is 78-90 and you get points for classes that you’ve already taken that are part of the program. The higher your rubic score is the better chance of getting in. The TEAS is a timed test each section has its own timer and you can’t go back to previous sections or do it out of order.

Hello Everyone!

I am currently a student at Suffolk and I plan to take my TEAS at the end of this month or the beginning of February. I have mostly all of my prerequisites done with As and Bs. I am taking A&P 2 this upcoming semester though. So, I would only have Micro left, and I’m worried about not getting in because A&P 2 and Micro won’t be completed by the time I apply. I know they said they rely heavily on TEAS scores for acceptance, so I’ve been studying from the Mometrix and the actual ATI book from the site. If I get the grade I want and I am accepted into this program, I would love to give away these study materials to anyone in need. I’ll post again after final decisions have been made. Good luck everyone!

Hi everyone! I’m a first-time applicant to SCCC’s nursing program. I took the TEAS in June 2020 and scored Advanced. I got mostly B’s/B+‘s in my pre-requisites with a couple of A’s, but I took 2 of the relevant courses which bumps up my rubric score by half a point. I just have to send them my immunization records, and I’m also waiting to hear back from my former high school about receiving an official transcript, then I should be good to go ☺️

I have a question, too. I got an email from admissions after I had sent the application in, and it had said that they will review the application as soon as all the required documents have been received. Do we find out on a rolling basis if we were accepted, or still after March 1 since that’s the official deadline?

Good luck everyone! ❤️

Hi everyone, so super nervous about my application. Took my TEAS exam for the second time and only got a 72.7 ? I applied last semester and did not get accepted and I'm not sure I can handle another rejection. I also just applied to Nassau Community College as a back up but I'm not sure that will even matter. As anyone else taken their TEAS yet?

Have you completed the prereqs? It’s based on a rubic so if you’ve received  maximum points for each prereq you may have a chance. I’ve taken the TEAS twice and applied to the program but didn’t get in. It is not enough to just get a 75 which is what I had as it doesn’t give you points. I am planning to take it again in February as they extended the deadline to March 1. It seems a more likely chance to get in to the program if you get points for getting advanced or exemplary on the TEAS score as that can get an additional 20-25 points towards score. It also depends on the scores and grades of other people applying. The science section was the hardest for me so I am studying my old notes much more this time.

I've completed everything except for Microbiology (taking this upcoming semester) OK grades. My rubic just is not high enough for me. I will probably have to retake the exam for the following fall. But still keeping my fingers crossed ?

The program is really competitive. I’ve found that not having all As in the classes along with the advanced TEAS score is a challenge based on how big the candidate pool is each semester. I spoke to advisor not too long ago to discuss what I could improve and they recommended scoring higher on TEAS test. That retaking courses wouldn’t be beneficial because you loose points and don’t gain much back. You can reach out to them to to discuss your chances.

I'm taking my TEAS tomorrow. super nervous!! have all prerequisites except anatomy 2 I'm taking this semester, and microbio.

took my TEAS today scored a 90% and my overall rubric is an 80... fingers crossed that will be enough to secure a spot

That’s amazing! Congratulations! May I ask how long did you study? And did you take A&P 1 and 2 first? I haven’t taken A&P yet I have been  studying since October for the TEAS, I take it in 3 weeks. I’m really nervous and I hope I get in the 90s. I wish you all the best and hope you get in!

I just finished A&P 1 in December. I've been studying nonstop everyday since Christmas, been using the online program from mometrix. It's like $35 a month but has full review and 8 practice tests. I also did the 2 practice tests on the ATI website it was $80 but worth it!

Hello everyone!

I graduated college in May 2020. Does my high school transcript need to be submitted along with my college transcript? Or is that only for incoming freshmen?
