Hi all! This is my first time posting on here, so hope I'm not starting a new thread that's already established. I'm just trying to get a feel for where I'm at in the never ending maricopa wait list. Anyone places for fall 2013 or the summer program that recently started? If so, please post what your date stamp is. My date stamp is 8/19/2011.
Thanks!
randallk: You have not been placed?
I'm not sure who you were asking, but I don't know anything about any of the programs (sorry for being of no help).
Also I just thought I'd let you know that I know of someone who got placed at gateway accelerated and will be deferring. So that's one spot open there.
sorry if you've already answered this.....are the 330 spots INCLUDING CEP or are there 330 spots besides the CEP slots?
I havn't counted recently so I don't know the exact, but I believe there were over 400 total, so the 330 should be public available for NON CEP students. I think there were around 100 CEP slots.
Thank you for your reply. So, basically every 1 in 4 spots is a CEP spot? I am just trying to get an estimate. I was getting the impression from another post that like 90% of the spots were CEP and that doesn't seem to be the case. It sounds more like 25% of the spots are for CEP.
That's this semester though. In a semester that, say, only has 250 spots available, there will still be about the same CEP program capacity, so up to half the spots would be CEP. However, in the last couple years, ive only seen one semester with availability less than 300 spots so its not very common. THis is only rumor that I have heard, but if true would make the placement pool longer. I have heard that as the CEP program gets more popular and more hospitals are aiming for magnet status (80% BSN RNs) there will be more CEP spots and less waiting pool slots. Essentially phasing out the ASN program for all but a small amount of openings to make addittance more competitive and give the graduates a better chance at getting a new grad job. Again, thas only hearsay so I could be totally wrong, but anybody just getting on the list should beware that the waitlist could potentially start taking longer for those not going for CEP.
At the information session for the cep program they insist that the cep spots do not take away from the regular nursing spots. They simply add them on and I believe most cep students are grouped together. I don't think t he cep seats are included in the numbers that are on the website as they get placed at a different time.
That's good to know. I war going to go to a CEP session in Nov but got placed for the SCC trad in spring/14. If CEP is not taking from the pool spots, then they have just coincidentally started placing less students each semester. I was put in the placement pool the semester before CEP rolled out, and there were over 400 people placed. THen after that, it seems less people are being placed. I believe you if they sid the CEP doesn't take spots, it just sucks that no matter what, less people are getting in each semester.
They made it a big point to insist that the CEP didn't take away from the regular nursing pool - but that might be an attempt to squash complaints. I suppose its all politics and we really don't have control over it. Congrats on being placed! I don't think I would do the cep program if I was close to getting placed, as it's going to cost an extra arm and leg (and were not supposed to be working? eeeek!).
