I loved reading last years group, thought I would start one for this year.
I guess I will get us started...
1: what date you start/ school name
2: how long is your program
3: why are you becoming an lpn..
4: how much is your program
5: how many lecture hrs, and clinical hrs
_______________________________________
1. My class starts after Labor day the school is Central School of Practical Nursing in VA
2. 18 months
3. I decided on LPN because the program hours works best with my family life, I can finish in 18 months and I would like to work in hospice, doctors office or outpatient surgery center. Plus, I have a 2.42 GPA from the first time I went to college that prevents me from being competitive to get into a RN/ASN/BSN school. I am still working on my science pre-requisites in preparation of a bridge program if I want to continue in the future.
4. My program is about $10,000 total start to finish
5. 866.5 lecture / 655.5 clinical

Hi all! My name is Kimberly!
1: what date you start/ school name
I start August 14, at the Washington County School of Practical Nursing
2: how long is your program
2 school years, (August - May, runs concurrent with the public school system)
3: why are you becoming an lpn
I have always wanted to be a nurse since I was a little girl. The human body amazes me and I want to be in and around everything medical! I actually completed my first year of RN school in 2009-2010 (completed all pre reqs from 2007-2009) then had to withdraw after I had a flare up and was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. I was unable to get my financial aid reinstated at the community college I went to, so I am hoping to bridge to RN after completing my LPN.
4: how much is your program
$2500.The program is actually provided by the public school system to high school seniors, but any spaces that aren't taken by the students are offered to adults in a morning class. The cost of the program is for books and supplies (scrubs, etc).
5: how many lecture hrs, and clinical hrs
First year (9 months) is lecture and second year (9 months) is clinical. Not sure the total of hours.
I start Aug 19
11 month program
I am becoming a nurse because of my love for people, I love to help people no matter the scenario. I have been a beautician for 12 years and it just wasn't doing it for me and my family anymore. For me it just wasn't rewarding anymore, I need more! With the failing economy i was loosing customers to DIY ers, meaning people in small towns are cutting costs wherever they can! I feel nursing will be very rewarding and it will give me the challenges I need in a career. Nursing will also give me financial security, something I have never had, as being self employed all of my working days. I am 31 and scared to death to try and do this with 3 small children at home. But.... God brought me to this and HE will bring me through it!! My goal is to bridge over to RN after completion of LPN.
tuition is $9496 all other expenses aprox. $7000 not including graduation expence
I am not for sure yet on days and times
How is it going ladies????? I am moving into my 3rd week, we are doing A&P first, I think to weed people out, which is working. I can't believe how many have already left and how many are failing so far. Shucks, we have one that is failing just because she refuses to conform to the uniform requirements.
Happy Winter Break!!!! We just finished A&P, and I am so happy that is over! When we go back in Jan, we will be starting Nursing Fundamentals and pharmacology/math. We ended up losing 3 in my class before our break, but I have a feeling we will lose more before our summer break.
Hope everyone is well!
Where is everyone?
We are finished with our finals!!! Next week is our last week of class, then a short summer break. Our program started with 40 people, and as of Thursday, only 16 were moving on to level two. We have finished nursing fundamentals, A&P, pharmacology, med math and 50 hours of clinical (ADL's, care plans, head to toe assessments, med pass). I am looking forward to moving on and kicking butt again next year.
