Jayeda80,
Thanks for your response. I am disappointed but what can I do. I got my denial letter on 06/25/10 and I called and spoke with the counselor that my point was stated incorrectly on my letter. I have 80 but they listed 79. The counselor told me that they corrected it. When I told her that LA co. was my first choice, she told me that they'll know better in 2 wks. I did'nt want to be a nag (some schools do get annoyed as many of you know) and I called them this Monday and was told that the spaces were all full. I even said that somebody (meaning yourself) got in with 80 points but she had no comment. I really had great feeling about LA Co. when I attended orientation for applicants but they may not feel the same way about me. Maybe I should have been a bit more aggressive and asked what my chances were of getting in with my 80 points. It's certainly was disappointing when they made an error on my total and I certainly called early enough where they could have told me to show up for pre-registration and see what happens. My boyfriend asked me to question them in detail how they will pick the alternates that have 80 points... I really wanted to go to co. since I wanted to get into emergency or surgical nursing but I guess may be co. is not part of God's plan for me or may be did'nt pray hard enough.....
I just got the letter today. I am in pending the health clearance. How did you score on the entrance? I did get 13.5+ on all section and my science gpa is around 3.8. Don't give up. She told me if I did not get in this semester, I would get in next semester for sure so you should get in. The new application period already started so I would call them and tell them to keep your file open. Why don't you go and give them a visit. If they put a face to the name, you might have a better chance even if she says its full. Someone told me, that someone begged her and she got in. It is worth a try.
Jayeda80,
Thank you so much for your reply. I had score pretty much same and my GPA was around 3.65. I have a feeling that people with 80 points were not initially accepted but invited to attend the pre-reg meeting. I get the sense that somebody dropped the ball when they sent out my letter saying that I have 79pts when I actually have 80 pts. I called as soon as I got the letter that day asking them to correct my points and that was 06/25/10 (before you got your letter on 07/02/10). I told the counselor that Co. was and is my first choice. I'm so glad and thankful for you responding to me right away. I discussed with my boyfriend last night after reading your previous post that I am going to go to the school tomorrow to speak to the counselor. I just need to find out why I was not even invited to attend pre-reg when I had 80 points and I have not gotten any explanation for it yet. What did they go over at pre-reg? Did I missed the orientation? When is orientation and when does the program start?
Thanks a bunch. Glad to hear that you finally got your letter...

Maybe I should just go over there and ask for my rejection letter, or ask for proof that it was in fact mailed out to me.
Hi guys and gals! I'm new to this site so would really like some advice :) I am new in the process of nursing (but have thought about it for years.) I am scared and intimidated to go through the process with working full-time and having to travel to the bay area every 3 months for work. I have almost 40 GE units from 8 years ago, but very few prereqs for nursing. I saw that the pass rates were high for la county/allied and am interested in going there eventually but first I have a ton of classes to take first. Did anyone do there prereqs at multiple schools? Because of my work schedule, I may have to take some at lacc and lavc. Does anyone have a list of all the prereqs that we need? I have already completed: english, into to psychology, speech/speaking, and bio 1 (received a D, so i'll be retaking) I went to college in northern CA so the course #'s are so different. In the spring I'm interested in taking anatomy 1, math 12 and psych 41. I'm so terrible of math, I'm a bit nurvous on how I'll do. Thanks so much, I'm really proud of all you guys and can't wait to be as close to you guys are in the process. I'm 31 years old- so I want to get on a roll! :)

I received the letter on 7-02 and it said I did not qualify and I had 80 points but I was welcome to attend the preregistration which was on Friday. I got a phone call that day saying that she was going to send me an acceptance letter. I don't know if all the ones in the waiting list got in or not but I think the fact that I attended the prereg helped me if not actually getting me into the program.
