Fall 2019 Lonestar Hopefuls

Published

Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

Hello! I applied for Kingwoods basic track and I got in as an alternate so I may also be applying to Montgomery, Tomball, and North Harris. My score is a 7.472 overall. Good luck to everyone!

Hey I am applying for LVN school as well as ADN too how was the LVN program

I did the LVN program in 2011-2012 at Kingwood. It was a great program and I really enjoyed it, but it was difficult. I was an "A" student in school and never had to study. In LVN school, I had to work for it. I had to teach myself to study. I probably should have applied myself a little more and looking back I know I could have done better, but I got my first "B" and "C" in LVN school.

But I learned a lot and it gave me a great foundation as a nurse. Be prepared though, as it is full-time and is near impossible to work while doing it.

thank you for the info

Let's start one of those score comparison posts like in previous threads.

Hello all! This is my first time applying to any nursing program and still need to take the HESI but I am studying the 4th edu book right now for that.. A coupole of questions... What is the scoring sheet they use to score everyone when applying for the basic track program? And as far as the pre-reqs is it just the English 1301, Math 3010, and AP 1? HELP! Nervous but determined to get into a program.

Thank you!

It's based on an 8 point scale. Most would agree, if you want to be competitive you need A's in pre-req's and a minimum of 7 to be competitive, although that is far from being a "hard limit."

Thank you SO much for your reply. I really appreciate it!

You are quite welcome. One thing to keep in mind though is that with your AP1 and AP2, they take the higher of the two. So if you have an A in one and a B or C in the other, they will use the A to calculator your score. You have to have both completed to finish the program, but you only need an A in one of them plus an A in English 1301 to get maximum points.

Hey guys I'm having a little difficulty understanding the Hep B requirements. It states that if your titer is negative then you have to have proof of previous vaccination as well as the negative titer and then start your new round. So the thing is I lost my vaccination card I had as a child and it's nearly impossible to get the records since it was forever ago and I had multiple doctors as a child. What do I do in this case? Or who can I ask for help with this?

Go to the doctor, or a clinic type place and have them draw a Hep B titer. It will tell you if you are positive for immunity or not. Make sure it is a quatitative titer with a numerical value. It cant simply say "positive" or "negative." If it comes back negative (Not immune) you will have to have a booster and start another series. Then give them with your application the negative titer, proof of booster and proof that you have begun the new series and you should be good. However, since you cannot find your original Hep B series documentation, I would call the health sciences advisor to verify what I said is true. If I remember correctly, I didn't have my original documentation either, but my titer was positive.

Do this as soon as humanly possible. It can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months to complete a Hep B series. It's not uncommon for them to deny acceptance based on an error with the Hep B series.

The health science advisor at the kingwood campus is awesome and super helpful. I would reach out to her.
