Fall 2019 Lonestar Hopefuls

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

What times were your nursing courses for first semester?

Mon: 9-11 & 12-3
Wed: 8:30-12:30
Fri: 9-12

I would suggest taking it 2nd semester! I’m taking it now and it’s kicking my ***. I am in nursing 3 and although I’m doing great in nursing I am not doing so well I’m micro! The 1st semester you are getting your feet wet! Understand what’s required of you first in nursing one and get an idea of what your schedule/lab/ and what the test are like!

Good morning everyone! Can anyone recommend shoes for the program? I was told by the Nursing Director at Cy-Fair that our shoes have to be white. Any help is appreciated! Thank you(:

I would recommend white sneakers with no mesh. You can get the one amazon. Just make sure no clogs. I had some classmates who wore converse

Hey there! I didn’t get accepted to the program when I applied in the spring so I retook A&P to get an A and will hopefully be competitive enough for next application period. The program is highly competitive. I believe that the lowest score one of the campuses accepted was a 7.3 (and that was as an alternate). You need an A in A&P and an A in English. You need at least an 88 on the HESI to be competitive enough. Each semester it appears that more people apply and the more competitive it gets. I don’t say this to scare you but I wish someone had told me this so that I would have taken it more seriously. I thought I could get in with a B in A&P and an 84 on the HESI. Lone Star’s nursing program is worth it so I’ve been told and plenty of hospitals hire RN’s that have graduated thru Lone Star.

I hope this helps! I’m sure others that were accepted can give you more insight as to what is expected of you and some helpful tips and tricks ?

Honestly, if you want to be competitive you should repeat your English and get an A.

So you think I should take it again i have taken it 3 times now the first 2 times I had to have a emergency surgery then the nest semester one of my family member had passes away and now taking it this time I get a B in it.

I would say yes if you really want a good chance of getting accepted. Most who do get accepted have an A on both classes and a 86 or higher on the Hesi. It is your decision and they do accept alternates but I am not sure how competitive you want to be on your application.
