Fall 2019 Lonestar Hopefuls

Published

Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

ok. thank you so much.

Np! It was the cheapest route I could find. Pretty good price for everything!

dont forget to bring your physical exam form and health history for the health care provider.

There is a dosage exam every semester?

Yes there is one at the beginning of every semester.

NH date might be different. But I know it's soon after the start of the program. I am taking Pharm this semester, so hopefully that'll be fresh on my brain and a easy 90%.

You got this ?

Even though I didn’t get accepted for the fall semester I’m thinking about knocking out the titers this summer so I don't have to stress about it for next year. Does anyone know how long the titers/TB skin test lasts?

You should wait. Get them done before the application deadline.

Yea, I did all my titers a couple of months prior to applying that way everything seems current lol. I believe titers are 3yrs? TB I believe is 1yr. I still need to do my TB skin test which I’ll probably schedule tomorrow with my PCP. I had my physical done back in 12/31/2018 so mine is recent, I dropped off my paperwork today at my PCPs office and to fill it out they are charging me $15... I guess better than paying $35 for a copay for another physical lol

For the acceptance/rejection/waitlist emails that y'all got, did it use those words? Like you're accepted/rejected/waitlisted? Because mine didn't mention any of those. It just said the pool had a total of 599 applicants and 260 got in and that they've reached their capacity.

I got one of those too. If you look at their closing remark it says, "Good luck on all your endeavors". It's just a polite rejection letter.

Don't do the skin test. Do the QuantiFERON Gold blood test. It's more precise and you don't have to worry about having the results read. You just get the paperwork back and upload it.

How long would it take? Will it affect the admission process if I do the skin test vs. the blood test? Last time I did a skin test the bump when away in like... a day. Nothing to even measure when I came back to get it read.

I just got mine done at express clinic-spring.

total for everything was $254

Do you have health insurance? It should be waaaay cheaper than that if you do!

It's just a far more accurate test. You can get false positives with skin tests sometimes. It's a quantitative test as well

I'm guessing not. That should be a $0-20 copay and that's it.
