Fall 2019 Lonestar Hopefuls

Published

Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

Has anyone considered other careers in case you don't make it this next semester? I've heard so many stories of people waiting years to get in. I had thought maybe pta as a backup or go for bachelors in biology. I really don't know what else I'd do with all these science courses.

I think it is great to have a back up plan! But I think it’s more important to have faith! To know “What’s meant for you will always be for you!”

but I do have a back up plan to just get my BSN

Not sure why it would take someone years to get in. If someone’s score was low enough, they could retake English for an A in a 3 week or 8 week course (find an easy teacher on Rate My Professor). Same goes for A&P: there are “easier” Professors that you can take. That just leaves HESI, which there are some excellent sources via Facebook groups, YouTube, Quizlet, PocketPrep, and the Elsevier book. You could also make sure you are setting yourself up for better odds. Apply to all the available campuses at LoneStar in Fall and Spring, plus HCC, plus Lee, plus San Jac, etc. There is also Chamberlain. It may be more expensive, but practically anyone can get in and there are several amazing BSN RNs who went there and passed their NCLEX just like those at “regular” schools.

But if someone was still struggling for whatever reason, they can apply for the LVN program which is a bit easier to get into, then do the LVN-RN transition program.

I applied for RN program. Do you think I can apply for LVN at the same time? Also, if we want to apply to HCC just in case too, do we need to be their student first and then apply, or we can go apply right away? TIA

Alright so I already sent in my application but now I’m second guessing myself on the titer part! My quantitative titer came back as positive for immunity (I can’t remember the exact number but it was more than a 9) that’s all I had to submit correct? No prior proof of the Heb B series or anything like that?

Yes you can apply to both at the same time as long as the application deadline hasn’t passed. I’ve had a counselor suggest I do this as a back up plan.

I’m not sure about HCC, but you should be able to see the steps for applying on their nursing department page.

Who has turned in their application?

I commend you, I really don't think I could do that drive. Does the lab still apply if you take micro and pharm before the program starts?

Yes. The lab course is a skills lab where you learn all of your physical nursing skills.

I submitted mine about 3 weeks ago with a 7.536 to cy fair, tomball, Montgomery

i got an email from cyfair nursing about a week later saying my FERPA form was wrong so I corrected and resubmitted. Happy they said something!! Anxious for April to be here!

What wasn’t wrong with it? Sorry if I’m nosy lol

I had an old FERPA form. The correct one is on the Lonestar nursing site and I printed from the standard Lonestar site. The nursing FERPA form does not need to be notarized and the old form does need a notary signature. Just make sure to get the form from the nursing site. ?
