Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

I just finished my first semester in Kingwood’s program. I go to lecture 2 days per week. You can pick if you want morning or evening class. I’m in evening. It’s only about 25 of us compared to 50-60 in the morning class. We go to lecture on Wednesday and Thursday for about 2 hours each day (5-7:20pm for nights). You get to choose your clinical day. They fall on Friday/Saturday/Monday/Tuesday. You choose which day you’d like to go to clinical. Clinical is only once per week (6:30-4:30). You will also have skills lab. Skills fall on Wednesday or Thursday. You can pick morning, evening or night for skills lab. That’s basically the schedule for all semester for us.

How do you like the night program? I didn't think there'd be that many people in it. It's a great option for those who need it but I think night nursing school would throw me off lol

I actually enjoyed the night class. I work better with a smaller group than with larger groups of people. It’s also a plus on exam days. You get to study all the way until 5pm instead of taking the exam early in the morning at 9am. So I honestly loved it. I know a few people work so if your job is during the morning, you can come to class at night. I had my clinical on Tuesdays so I just had Tuesday/Wednesday and Thursday every week for school. The other 4 days, I was off and free to do whatever. This semester seemed extremely laid back and I learned a lot.

Thank you SO much! Trying to decide if I will apply there as a back up in case I don’t get into any of the 4 programs for Fall start. Thanks so much for this info! Do you like the program there so far?

Yes, I love it! All of the students and staff are EXTREMELY nice. They go out of their way to help you succeed. I have heard of other programs “weeding out” individuals, but they aren’t like that at all. It seemed like they broke down the information easily so you can really grasp every concept. I will say during the beginning of the semester, it was slower compared to the end. There seemed to be an exam every 2 weeks and skills check off every 2 weeks at the end. So it was a little hectic, but overall I enjoyed my first semester. Can’t wait until the second. The upper level students even helped us out a lot as well. I would definitely recommend Kingwood if that’s an option.

No problem. I’m here to answer any questions if you guys need help or advice. We started off with 81 students. Looking at the roster there were 52 in day class, 29 in night.

I wish the schools that have already pulled applicants for acceptance would go ahead and send out the letters. It won't hurt. Whoever is an alternate will just get a late notice
