Fall 2018 Lone Star Hopefuls

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone, just wanted to start a Fall 2018 page for Lone Star ADN/LVN future students!

you have hirsch right now?! Sorry if I missed it in the thread, I just googled her name since I couldnt find anything on ratemyprofessor lol

Yeah my original plan was to wait til after the first semester, but I'm pulling my name from the alternate pool and won't be applying to nursing school again until next year. So I'd like to get some patient care hours in the meantime.

So you're suggesting just doing CNA cert.? I just wanna be able to work in a hospital eventually and didn't know if they preferred PCT over CNA.

Barely seeing this!

I know it's really hard to get a job as a CNA in s hospital unless you have connections or 6 months experience or work over night. I have friends who did 6 months as a CNA in a nursing home, then applied to jobs at hospitals. After a few months, they all got hired!

One of my friends did the PCT certificate. But she said it's basically three courses: CNA, phlebotomy, and EKG. It's not really one program, it's more like three and at the end of all three you can take the PCT test and become certified. They definitely get jobs in hospitals but it takes months to get I think anywhere from 6-8 months. So it's really up to you what you want to do with the time you have until next year.

I will say that every nurse I've spoken to says CNA experience is all you need if you want to be a nurse.

You can register for castle branch just don't order the document tracker code. I would proceed with the ssv order. And this is for cy fair not certain if anyone else had any issues

There is only one other person from here I've connected with that is going to Montgomery. Does anyone know if this issue with CB is just at CF or are any other campuses affected? I planned on starting all of that this weekend as I have a break in my accelerated A&P II course...

Okay, sorry guys, but borrowing a quick moment from this thread for a quick shout out to Ang (from this forum) in Dr. Karr's Micro. You know what you did today, you're a blessing and you're amazing. I hope you see this, because I have no other way of formally contacting you to thank you. So...thank you SO much! I wish I was going to North Harris with you! :)

Amen!!! Ang, you are the sweetest, most considerate person!!!! Loved loved loved it! My daughter was blown away with how cute everything was as well! Your heart is pure gold and you made my entire week. Thanks Beautiful!!!! You're awesome!!! I wish all of us from Dr. Karr's class were going to the same nursing school together.

Hey, I plan on applying in July as well. Can you tell me what you studied for the hesi?

I already have a castle branch account from applying to sanjac last semester. Does anyone know how I can transfer the information to Lone Star?
you can't, must create another one

Hi klp2006! Sorry I'm still getting used to this site lol.

I did get accepted to Montgomery and was wondering the same thing with castle branch. It only let me order the ssn verification package but not the "LD35", it says its an invalid code. I'm not sure if you might've gotten the same error?

Gotcha!! I definitely want to work night shift, so I'll have that in my favor. Thanks for letting me know! I'll stick it out at a LTC facility until I can get in to a hospital.

zabeth316 pay and create an account for Lone star, then call Castle branch and have them move all your immunizations and everything else needed by lonestar to your lone star account. But you have to verify from lone star if they will accept your background check and drug screen from the last time (if less than 6 months). Most school prefer that you do another drug screen and background for them..Every school is different but you may be lucky. Good luck and congrats!

Ok sounds easy! Thank you so much!

Hey ladies and gents! Congrats to everyone who got in! I was suppose to apply this semester but I had to retake my hesi because I made a 73 on the a&p section. Glad I retook it because I made a 95% overall with a 96 in a&p! I have an A in both A&P and ENGL making my score a 7.8. I plan on applying in July to cy fair and kingwoods spring start program. I was wondering if anyone with or around my score got into their first choice. I'm really trying to get into cy fair since I live close! However, I know all of you are so smart and am sure a lot of people applying have my score as well. I don't know, it may just be my nerves

Congrats on your score! I had the same score you did and was accepted into my first choice (NH since it's 5 minutes from my house) so I believe you definitely can get into your first choice.
