Fall internships dfw

U.S.A. Texas

Does anyone know of any fall internships for new grads in the dfw area (mainly fort worth)

I applied for baylors, but got rejection letters back for every single one of them except med/surg.

Also, where is everyone applying in this area? Ive applied at a lot of the major hospitals, jps, texas health,

weatherford regional, the HCA hospitals. Jps said they are not hiring new grads right now and texas health says that they will not do new grad internships until January, and I have gotten a few rejection emails from the HCA system hospitals.

Just wondering if theres any hospitals Im missing that may hire a new grad ADN.

Most of the local hospitals only do internships in June and January. The ones for January will start posting in the Sept/Oct timeframe for a January start date, so you can keep your eye out for those. Med Ctr of Plano had an internship posted for September start in L&D, but everyone I know who is a new ADN grad got rejected - they are only looking for BSNs at this time and are pretty open about that fact. Same with THR facilities from what I understand and Baylor. It is kind of rough out there right now. All you can do is keep applying - but I don't think any more internships are going to happen until January at this point.

I heard that Forest Park Medical Center in Dallas is opening their newest phase this coming week and need nurses, but not sure they are offering to new grads. You can certainly check and see.

Last year, UT Southwestern offered a new grad internship that started in September. I know that you live in Fort Worth, but this might still be a possibility if you are willing to commute to Dallas.

North Hills Hospital has a L&D internship position open at the present moment. The job # is: 00444-40215(a) NHH. I found it on the HCA job website, accessible through the hospitals website. It says (in caps) that a BSN is required. The start date is listed as September 12th.

Hope that helps!

I've talked to both Medical City Dallas (Dallas, TX) and Children's Hospital in Dallas. They are both planning on positing nurse internships within the next two weeks.

I don't know if it's RN or ADN, but it's something to look out for. Hope this helps, and good luck

RN and ADN are the same thing. Did you mean BSN or ADN?

Yes, I'm sorry. It was late and I miss typed.

Well I called UT Southwestern and they told me they will be posting their internship for January 2012 sometime in september.

I also called Medical City of Plano about their L&D position but was told that it has been filled.

When I called Forest Park Medical Center, I got an answering machine. Must not have called the right number.

North Hills Hospital just posted an internship on their website.

Hope this helps!! Good Luck!

Medical City is in Dallas. They have stated they will not hire any ADNs for their internships. Medical Center of Plano has stated the same thing - they have a few upcoming ADN December graduates on the inside that they will hire, but have said after January no ADNS period anymore.

Yikes! It sounds like GN's with their ADN are going to have a tough time finding a job.

It is averaging 6-8 months to find the first position for a new grad ADN in the DFW area. Even the schools themselves are getting honest with the students about that now.

So far I have seen that UTSW will still take ADNs as well as Parkland, Methodist Richardson, Lake Pointe Medical Center, Doctors Hospital and Medical Center of McKinney. I don't know much about the hospitals in areas closer to FW, Irving, Arlington, etc. I pretty much only look in the Dallas area.

Areas outside of DFW are still ADN friendly when you go further north, south and east into the more rural places like Temple, Tyler, Texoma Medical Center in Sherman, etc.
