Fall internships dfw
Well I called UT Southwestern and they told me they will be posting their internship for January 2012 sometime in september. I also called Medical City of Plano about their L&D position but was told that it has been filled. When I called Forest Park Medical Center, I got an answering machine. Must not have called the right number. North Hills Hospital just posted an internship on their website. Hope this helps!! Good Luck!

Fall internships dfw
I've talked to both Medical City Dallas (Dallas, TX) and Children's Hospital in Dallas. They are both planning on positing nurse internships within the next two weeks. I don't know if it's RN or ADN, but it's something to look out for. Hope this helps, and good luck

Any Suggestions for New Grads in Austin, TX?
No sorry, I didn't really get an answer to this post. From what I am able to determine there are two major hospital chains that own 90% of the hospital in the austin area: seton and st. davids. Once you apply to these, the only thing left are the smaller hospital on the outskirts, mental hospitals, and clinics. Apparently austin is saturated with new grads and it's hard to find a job. Either that or I'm just that unlucky! Would still love some additional information though, if anyone has anything to offer! :)

Interview Tips of a GN wanting a L&D Position.
I'm a graduate nurse who really wants to work in L&D, to be honest it's really the only place I want to work, but I'm trying to be open because I really need a job. Can anyone give me some tips for the interview process for a L&D nurse? Anything I should brush up on or ways/things to improve my chances? I'm willing to take some classes or get certifications, anything! I did my preceptorship in my last semester in L&D (96 hours), learned a ton and made sure to emphasize on my resume my time spent in the department. The only downfall is that my husband and I are moving to another city now that I've graduated, so I can't really use my connects from my clinical hospital in the new city. Advice please!

What to take on a job interview?
I'm a graduate nurse trying to prepare for my first nursing job interview. I was wondering if there is anything I should prepare to take with me, besides a copy of my resume on nice paper. Should I put together a portfolio of some sort? And if so what kind of things would I put in it? Any advice would be great! Thanks!

Nursing care plan
when trying to decide between nursing diagnosis, always think ABC, then Maslow for the order or to help you determine between the two. From there, aways think of your nursing care plan as documentation, like you would have to document your care when you get into the real world. That always helped me, hope that helps you!

Anyone made it through Nsg school WITHOUT caffeine , Adderall, or Red Bull??
In the beginning I would have a crystal light with energy mixed with a 20 oz bottle of water to get me through my clinicals, but never used it during the week for studying or anything. About half way through nursing school I gave up that drink and no longer need anything to keep me awake at clinicals. I like coffee but do not normally drink it because the caffeine really gets to me. I stick to my non-caffinate tea. Good for you for not needing anything, but I don't feel that it's abnormal to use coffee or soda to wake up in the morning. Every person has their own needs. Pills are a different matter however, I don't think that is a good idea!
