Hey everyone! Wanted to go ahead and start a thread for our group. I've been following the spring and summer 2013 group a little and figured it might be a good idea to get focused for the fall 2013 group. I've completed all my prerequisites and took my NAT test. Got a 107 on the test and I'm sitting at a 93 will all the prerequisites. So I'm going into the application process with a 203. Does anyone know what the general cut off is? I'm a bit nervous but I'm sure everyone else is too. The only thing I haven't completed is the CPR. I read once that this can be done after acceptance into the program...is that true? Thanks everyone! Can't wait to start chatting!

I don't know if any of you realize it or not, but you might want to plan on just taking both the Hep B and flu shots unless you are allergic or sensitive to the ingredients. If you decline Hep B, you run the risk of contracting the disease and it survives much longer on fomite surfaces than AIDS. The clinicians are not required to tell us if the patients we have are positive for either disease. As to the flu vaccine, the declination form states that you must wear a mask when doing clinicals at some medical facilities if you have declined the vaccine. If you have never worn one of these masks, you will soon decide that declining the vaccine is not worth the hassle. I had the Hep B shots so I will have to do the titer, and I usually decline the flu shots because I don't think the benefits outweigh the risks. In this case though, I would much rather take the shot and avoid wearing a mask! Sorry my post is so lengthy, but I just thought the information would be helpful to those of you who are new to healthcare.
