Hi!!! Im trying to start this thread for Fall 2010 student who applied to Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health!!

i applied and just wanted to know if anyone else was in the same boat as me! im dying to get a response! Hope someone responds!!

=] iliana

I applied!! I just got a letter from them today. It has the test date and the questionnaire to fill out.

Hey tokidoki!!

When's your test date?? I also found 2 other people who are applying but they responded to my other thread with a title almost like this one. How do you feel about taking the entrance exam?? ive taken it already and passed so im just waiting to see if i actually get accepted. did you apply to any others?

Hi Iliana!

The test date is next Saturday. I am just studying off the SAT prep and the GED, hopefully it will help me refresh my memory on the math. I actually applied to Cerritos College,ELAC and LA county. I prefer LA county though. =)

I didn't know they have questionnare to fill out, can you share with me some of the answers you put and whether you think it impact your acceptance or not?

If I don't get in this semester, does it mean I have to retake the exam again if I reapply next year?

If I pass the exam, I will have 80pts total. crossing my fingers!! good luck to you too!

Hey tokidoki,

Ya there questionare is pretty lame lol i thought the questions were pretty basic. i dont remember any of the questions cuz filled it out and turned it in aloooong time ago but if you write me some of the questions i can remember and help you out abit but to be honest i dont think they impact our acceptance. i really think its just based on your points. Right now im at total of 82 points. i know for the spring semester they accepted people at 79 points but keep in mind that was spring with less applicants so we'll see. Hopefully they dont change the point system! And if you dont get in this semester (which im sure you will with 80 points!) you can reapply and not retake the entrance exam! thats what im doing! that why i have 82 points! lol anyways GOODLUCK to you for your exam on saturday! but like i said if you want you can remind me what the questions were and ill try to help!

With over 80 points you should get in. What have you heard about the school itself? Have you heard it's a good program? Thanks.

I received a letter today as well regarding the pre entrance exam. By any chance would this be the TEAS test? Im really hoping it is, I just took it today for a different nursing program. I would hate to have to study for a completely different test :/

The California thread. They are sharing wealth of info.

Hi Iliana,

was math part of the test similar to what it is on the SAT I math?

Below are some of the questions I'd like to see how you had answered them in your application process.

Discuss the similarities and differences in nursing programs, as you understand them in regard to an Associate Degree, Diploma, and Baccalaureate program

Despite the strength of one’s interest in the nursing profession a person often experiences doubts of some kind or other when entering a new profession, what are yours?

Hey tokidoki,

okay so for the

Discuss the similarities and differences in nursing programs, as you understand them in regard to an Associate Degree, Diploma, and Baccalaureate program

i had to ask my sister who is already an RN and she kinda helped me with this question i pretty much just said the obvious which was that the Associates Degree only requires 2 year commitment while the Baccaluareate program can require upto 4 years and pretty much is a continuation of the Associate Degree. I also talked about having the Baccalaureate degree can help an RN advance in different stages of a career and can help RN's climb the career ladder lol other than that i remember thats probably the only one i was like *****? lol

and as for

Despite the strength of one’s interest in the nursing profession a person often experiences doubts of some kind or other when entering a new profession, what are yours?

to sum up what i pretty much wrote i just put how i really and honestly feel. scared and nervous but 100% anxious and excited. and how with any new step in ones life comes doubts and risks and worries but with your heat and mind in the right place one can achieve and exceed in any subject and program..

Hope i helped!

Hi Valjoy!

Im pretty sure it cover the same thing. When i took the entrance exam i just felt it was almost EXACTLY like a high schoole exit exam. I didnt think i did well until i saw my resu.lts and apparently i did very well. The math (the only part i was really sstressing) was the only part i was really worried about but really it was only fractions and percentages that i had to worry about. and the vocab was pretty easy. i mean if your not used to using heariing bigger different words in certain converstaions you may want to study but i thought that was easy. all though the reading comprehension was kind of tough you just have to make your your 100% focused while your reading the looooong stories to answer the questions that follow so that you dont have to reread them again. but other than that i dont think anyone really has to worry about the entrance exam....

BUT THEN AGAIN.. i took the entrance exam last year when it was the CAT exam so i dont have to retake it now that im reapplying for fall so im not sure if the TEAS will be the same..

either way GOODLUCk AND dont stress it!!.. if you graduated high school you should be okay lol

Hi Iliana

thanks for your help. I am sorta stressed out about this Saturday's test, hehe...

I am worried about the vocab part, do you think the vocab was easier than the SAT vocab? really, there's no way of studying vocab, you either know it or you don't.

thanks again!
