2017 Fall Chattahoochee Tech Nursing Program

Published

Hello! I am a 2017 fall nursing program hopeful. I did not see a forum started or this semester and was hoping to start one . Here we can ask each other questions and encourage one another along the way.

I'm confused on that because I email an advisor and she said that I just have to apply by December and I can just send her an updated transcript in May.

Then go by that. That's what I had thought. You just need to apply by dec and be accepted. You don't have to actually attend or take classes. You being accepted makes you a student here. There are people in my nursing class that never attended chat tech until nursing school

Thank you! I have a couple more questions for you. Where do most of the clinicals take place at? How much have you paid so far for the program?

We have clinicals everywhere they try to group you with people near your home. We have clinicals at Grady Piedmont Atlanta Piedmont Fayette Mountainside WellStar Paulding ... and then we have some specialty clinical sites in between and there some hospitals I missing I just never been to them so I don't remember As far as how much I have paid I'm not exactly sure sometimes semesters are cheaper than others this semester was 1800 and there are four semesters . I know the summer one didn't cost as much i've bought so many books in the past 18 months I can't really "you on how much that will cost I know my MedSurg book cost around 300 my fundamentals book around 200 but there's multiple books in between all that and multiple programs that you have to purchase when you go to the application session though be able to tell you were price better

I have one more question for you and then I sear I'll leave you alone í ½í¸‚. During your last semester, do you get a preceptorship? How does that work? Do you get to choose your speciality?

Thank you again for being so helpful!

Unfortunately no. As an ASN student you don't get a preceptorship. I don't mind all the questions! If it makes you feel any better I already accepted a job in September before I graduated or passed the NCLEX. The only thing not having a perceptor ship has gotten in the way of is some people wanting to go straight to the ED or working in Peds

Has most of your class already gotten job offers? Do you have any idea what kind of specialities? The reason why I'm wondering all this stuff is because I hope to get a job in peds or nicu or mother baby. Thank you again!

Peds is hard to get in without being an experienced nurse with your BSN . A lot of people are waiting to interview until they take the NCLEX but everyone that has interviewed has got a job offer. I know Grady will higher new nurses for mother baby, some other hospitals want you to have a little more experience. You can get a job in nicu as a new nurse with your ASN. I have a job on a cardiac icu stepdown floor. I know someone with an OR circulating nurse offer, mother baby offer, lots of med surg, tele floors, icu offers. You can do almost anything you want! I do know peds is something you usually have to have BSN for though :)

Thank you so much! I would love to get to get a job in the NICu or Mother Baby. Before I can even think about that stuff I need to worry about getting in nursing school. Thank you so much for everything!

You're welcome!

Sorry if I gave you the wrong information about attending I was just repeating what I saw and heard. Do you think it's because I still have to take a few classes that why they told me that I needed to transfer? I'm saying this because what's the point of applying to a school spring and you won't go until fall. Like why can't you apply summer if you still are taking classes at a different school.
