Hi everyone,
I really enjoy the helpful information, support and tips found on this site and thought I'd start a thread for fall Mane program applicants.
I am currently on the wait list for Century Fall 2016. Composite score is 11.22 Someone in another thread said they were told by admissions that there are 45 people on the list with scores ranging from 10.94-11.33. My Teas score after a few attempts was 75. Not sure if I want to take again if not selected for Fall 2016 from the wait list, or just resubmit the same score-I know that after the June 1st application deadline for Spring 2017, the Teas 6 will need to be submitted Anyone with thoughts on this?
Also, I am seeing a trend with people going to Rassmussen to avoid the reapply and wait process...anyone with thoughts on that? Trying to stay positive about being selected off the wait list for fall, but also trying to be realistic about finishing school sooner rather than later.
Any thoughts/opinions and updates if you've heard any news on the wait list movement is appreciated!
Hodoab,
Thanks for posting an update!...every little piece of news helps in some little way!...on another allnurses blog, a student originally denied due to a transfer class issue, won her appeal and got an acceptance letter today in the mail. My guess is Sherry must have gotten through the appeals and sent letters before going on vacation!....hoping and praying ...post as soon as you get your mail :) and I will too!...good luck!!!
Taber24,I thought i called Anoka Ramsey and they would not budge on the Chemistry requirement...true?
What do you mean by Chem requirement don't they want general Chem like century? I just filled out my application for them but I need to go to an info session first I guess just want to make sure I don't mess anything up with the application
Nothing in the mail todayI kinda have a feeling I'll be waiting a while with my 11.14. Crazy because someone got off the waitlist at NHCC with an 11.13. I wish I would've applied to more than just century but we'll see just praying for patience lol.
I got nothing today either...tomorrow will be a long day.
Every school looks at different classes to apply into the program so ya I am sure ARCC you have to have the Chem requirement. I know at normandale you actually have to have two chemistry classes and have to have a biochemistry/organic Chem class to apply. It is strange that they are all a little different. Like I said I got into the normandale program, but I was so nervous that I looked at pretty much every post in regards to the MANE program and it seemed to me ARCC is the easiest program to get into. I don't think this discredits the program, I just think it is because they let so many people in. I knew someone with a 11.22 ranking who was accepted right away... that can only mean the people on the waitlist who get in probably have high 10 rankings. I just thought I would throw this out there to anyone feeling like giving up...there are other options! I have heard bad things about Rasmussen college and I would try avoid going there...it could end up in a complete waste of your money and time.
Do you think it's stupid to compare scores that got in at other schools? Maybe more people applied to Century this round.
There are definitely many variables! Not all schools have the same requirements either. I can't remember which school (MCTC?) required B's in all the sciences! I know when I started at NHCC for generals, it was req'd as well, then it was lowered to a C requirement. At one point at NHCC, Chemistry was req'd and is now just "strongly recommended", but if you choose to take it you have to have taken math through college Algebra. Things are constantly changing, that's for sure.Just back in 2010 they actually counted CNA experience toward getting in! And the Teas-version 6 this summer!...I don't think once you've taken it multiple times and gotten a decent score you should have to take the version 6 to keep applying-it's expensive and exhausting!...and useless! This field has gotten flooded with applicants in the last five years, without enough seats, instructors and clinical sites to keep up!
As far as applicants, I'm sure the numbers are all over the board and it all depends who applies at the same time you do...I just picked NHCC and Century to apply to because I am NOT willing to take more classes at this point-for me, its a waste of time/money and still not a guarantee of getting in. Had I taken Chemistry, I likely would not have gotten an A (I know myself!) and would have had a lower composite score applying for Century using a Chem grade vs gen ed substitute, so I'm thankful for that!

Omg congrats!!!!!
It's crazy you even got waitlisted. I hope this means more of us will be hearing back but I'm probably at the bottom of the list lol. Congrats again!
