They did send me a couple of different sessions to choose from, so you do get to pick. They say the petition into nursing skills isn't acceptance into the fall program, but so far everyone I know who passed nursing skills has been accepted into the next program. Fingers crossed!

I read on the other thread that they chose the time/day for someone else and got super nervous because I work full time 8-4 right now. I’m not applying for a whole year so idk why I got so nervous lol but anyway good luck!! I’m so excited for everyone and I can’t wait to be done with pre-requisites so I can apply!!

I was able to choose evening hours, so when your time comes, you should be good!

I would have preferred Cypress, it's 8 minutes from my house. ? But the time didn't work for me. Good luck to you!

I'm taking Skills at Cypress and so far really like both instructors. They both teach at Round Rock for the program. There are a lot of people in my class that live South, but had to end up taking this class cause it was the only one available.

I got the petition email on Thursday and signed up for the 8am Wednesday class at RR. I was honestly not expecting to get the petition because I applied without all of my co-reqs (I am currently taking philosophy and my psychology credit was from an ap class in HS so I was not sure if they would count it), but I am so relieved.

Does anyone know what exactly it is we do in the skills class, how many hours a week should I expect to study?

Also if anyone is taking the class at RR let me know I would love to exchange numbers, or if anyone wants to make a groupme for all of the skills classes.

Is the nursing skills class a mixture of lab and lecture?

You are required to read all of the power points and readings before class and we go over it VERY briefly in class and then the rest is practice and lab. It's a skills class, so HEAVY on the acting out the skills.

It's not a hard class, just have to think and practice.

Hi guys! I'm so glad that I found this thread.. My class for RNSG 1105 is about to start this coming March 25th @ cypress creek I'm so nervous because I do not have any experience and I'm traveling from Killeen, I'm taking the 5 pm class. I'm also a transfer student from CTC. do we receive the ranking and the acceptance letter? or both at the same time?

Did you need teal scrubs, watch, stethoscope and shoes on day 1?

Don't be nervous, most of us don't have any experience! As for the ranking/acceptance letter, I have no clue. ?

You need scrubs, don't have to be teal, and closed toe shoes. You won't need any other supplies for skills, those will be provided. Possibly a watch when you get to vital signs...but we haven't started that module yet!

Still haven't received either letter, but I'm pretty sure you either get accepted or a ranking showing where you're at. But I don't know for sure!
