FAILED TEAS EXAM

I'm sorry to hear that you're having a hard time. There is the option of retaking your TEAS, which, at my school, can be done after a 30 day waiting period. However, our school only allows us to take the TEAS twice in the time period of 2 years. If this is the case, I would study up on what portions you struggled with on the test and focus on those. I used the ATI TEAS V Study Guide and it was extremely helpful. If you decide to go a different route, I'm sure that your credits will transfer to a Health Science major or something similar. Speak with an advisor at your school if you decide to switch majors as they will be able to direct you better than probably anyone here could. Good luck!

I have that book i studied from there but i felt that the test was to random and broad compared to what i reviewed from test. Do you have any tips as to what to study?

Here's a site that I used in addition to studying from ATI study guide. For the science section, you pretty much have to know everything just because so much material is covered. Knowing the bodily systems and anatomy of the body are pretty crucial. But there is also the understanding of independent and dependent variables, genetics, and scientific reasoning. For the Reading Comprehension, I would read the tips that they give at the beginning of the section - those helped me during the test. I don't know how others did it, but determining the tone that the author has in the passage BEFORE reading the questions helped me. If I read the question beforehand, I would "imagine" the author's tone matched the answer of the question and would get really confused (I hope that makes sense). The math section I got 100%, just because math is something that always clicks with me. Knowing how to solve word problems is ESSENTIAL. Know what the question is asking before you start plugging away numbers. The English and Language Usage is mostly understanding spelling and the correct pronouns that go with the subject of the sentence. Honestly, practice will be your best friend. Hello! I took the TEAS-V today too. I studied for about a week from the ATI manual on JUST science and math because they are my weakness. I scored the highest on these and actually scored lower on reading and the punctuation crap. Which is suppose to be my "strong" point. This test needs to be studied for and only use the ATI manual... It is just like the TEAS-V. I still scored well and I wasn't able to finish all the reading questions. If it wasn't for the book I would have scored in the 60's or 50's. You can re-apply in Spring 15. Just take the TEAS at the end of summer after studying manual. Go over what the test told you to go over (the extra sheets that look like scrap crap) . Also the people who rant about, "Oh I didn't study and I got in the 80's" are either lying or are fresh out of high school and remember all the little nuance questions like, "What's a raindrops composition when acidic?" Or they are fresh out of chem or an English class. So study your weaknesses and retake it! If nursing is what your heart is set on then go! There's an old saying a classmate in her 50's told me, "If you see it in your heart so it will be". That doesn't mean there won't be tears and a hard fight, but don't give up. I at one point failed out of anatomy, and came back with a 4.0, I studied my butt off and I missed out on a lot but it got me to where I am today!

at my school we can take the teas twice in a 6 month period....must be a week apart....If you need to take it again you can take it at another school and turn your print out of scores in with your application. Study hard and retake it if that is an option. I did alright on it the first time.....not as well as I wanted to but passed all sections. I feel like if i decide to take it a second time I will do better just for knowing what to expect

as for other majors I have no idea there but I would imagine many of the medical majors have similar pre reqs

At my school, you can take the test twice per school year (August - July). I used the ATI Teas Study Manual which really helped me, but I would look at the printout they gave at the end of the test to see what areas of each subject you scored the lowest in and study those. I am currently in the same boat with waiting another year and sadly it isn't because of my teas score. The school I just transferred to wants me to retake my A&P 1 which will make me miss the deadline. I'm not sure what other majors the credits transfer to other than LPN, but there should be others.

Study from the ATI manual and do the practice questions. Take notes on the ones you got wrong and read over the general concepts for areas you struggle in. I crammed for this test right after my finals and I don't recommend that to anyone. I basically locked myself up in a room for 10 days during winter break doing 6 hour study sessions a day. Spend some time every day until you take it and study in short amounts of time like 10-20 minutes but be consistent and honest with yourself about your progress.

I am trying to apply for Lawson State fall nursing program (evening classes). I scored in the proficient level on my teas test, however I think my score was like 60%. I emailed someone at Lawson's nursing program asking them if I should take the TEAS test over again and she said that if I scored in the proficient ranking that i should be fine. I think I have 140 points overall in the points pool. I was just wondering if anyone knows what the cut off points are and if this will be enough to be accepted into Lawson State nursing program
