Well I failed my first lab pratical exam. Not only did I get the wrong diastolic I forgot to check the skin on the legs and palpate the stomach :(. I've also been late to lab twice and missed three communication classes. If I'm late to lab again I get reported!

I basically feel like a horrible student. I have A's in all of my classes and have gotten A's on all of my tests! Yet I still feel like I'm always playing catch up and that my professors must think I'm an awful student since I'm always late.

Anyway I am quitting my job biting the bullet and taking out that big loan! To heck with the juggling act. No more being late.

Whew now I feel better.

Happyday,

I am so sorry about your misfortune. Buckle up and do your best. I printed the application for the NCLEX-RN exam to keep me focused. When I am down, I look at the application and instantly I feel very happy. Keep your eyes on the prize and try to be ontime and review your assessments. You will be fine.

This is so much different then anything you've done before. Did you ever have to palpate something during a psych test? Don't worry if you failed your first test. You'll have plenty more to take! Just take a deep breath, learn from your mistakes and know you'll do better next time.

I am sorry you had problem with your practical, but it sounds like you are taking control right away, and yes, even if you have to quit your job it will be worth it. You know yourself best.

Good luck, I hope you do well.

a suggestion that has helped me in the past is to practice lab skills on friends and family. take their B/p, heart rate, etc. and ck pupils, homan's sign, grips, etc. you will be more relaxed with family and friends and since you have already done it a couple times before, you will be more confident in lab.

it sounds like you are on the right track! good luck!
