Hi I have been a nurse for 13 years. I have never had any discipline or right ups against me. I am currently in a leadership role. I failed a random drug test for Thc. I have had a rough 6 months and used Thc a couple of times during that 6 month period. I am currently waiting on my confirmation UDS results. I am very nervous and scared and do not know why to expect. I know I will need to self report to TNPAP. My question is when I speak with them should I admit to just one time use or sporadic use for the past several months. I want to do whatever I need to do to keep my license to support my family. I understand I put myself in this situation but just need some guidance...

Hello, what state are you located in? Mine was pre employment as well. Is it on the board of nursing? Or do your license remain clear during the process? Did you self report first or did you immediately contact your attorney?
I'm interested in knowing, can anyone in this thread recall ever being educated on the use of THC and employment laws ? Going back to nursing school? I'm curios to know if there is now standardized content in the curriculum requirements? I'm guessing it would be in the Professionalism unit.
Would love to hear from others.

It's about breaking the law.

Located in kentucky. My license says that I have drug testing going on and once I was finished it says reprimand cleared or something. But it offers a link to the nurses national database and in there says what happened with failing a pre employment drug screen. I was gonna self report the company who reported me gave me a chance to. Like a two week period. But I was advised not to and paid 5,000 for an attorney. IDK if the attorney helped or not.
