Failed pre-employment drug screen

I am so freaked out. I was hired, conditionally, for a job I really want. Today I found out that I failed the drug screen because it showed Darvocet. I have prescriptions for Percocet because I recently broke a bone in my foot. Over the weekend prior to the drug test, a family member gave me a couple of their pain killers until I got mine filled. I didn't put it all together until today, but apparently I took the Darvocet without thinking it would cause a problem. I am not sure yet what will happen, but I fear I will lose the job. Even worse, I am afraid of being reported to my nursing board. Any suggestions? I am feeling like a royal loser. I have never had a problem with any other drug screen in prior jobs or nursing school.

If you ask for pain meds in an ED- you are automatically a drug seeker.... doesn't matter if someone else is carrying your arm in a plastic bag w/ice...

nevermind being considered a drug seeker.

this dude would be considered 'armed' and dangerous.

(save it - i'll do it to myself.:grn:)

Some of us in the ED are a little more wise and kind than that. ;) Are we sometimes cynical and jaded after being burned by liars? Certainly. Regardless, I give everyone the benefit of the doubt the first time, and sometimes the second and third. YMMV.

That's probably true.... I avoid the ED for anything r/t pain at all costs. Even without a history of pain complaints, there is a large ED here that is (or at least was when I still got stuck going there) cruel. Torn meniscus..... not even Toradol. Normally I got ditched via EMS d/t seizures (documented via video x 5 days) and dysautonomia (documented PVCs and AMS d/t hypotension) - and I still got treated like I was a drug seeker- never asked for anything - heck, I didn't remember getting there- LOL.

I won't go to that place now that my "primary specialists" go to another hospital- where they are kind. (then I haven't said "I hurt"- aside from the PEs). The "dump" had Press-Ganey scores in the 60s- and POSTED them- :D ... guess the genius' started at whoever thought that was a good plan. :yeah:

YMMV?? Sorry- got me on that one :)
