Failed nclex very upset

Well I failed the nclex two days ago. I'm pretty upset and down about it. I feel like how could pretty much everyone else in my class have passed and not me. I worked so hard for the past three months and now I'm embarrassed that this has happened. I don't know where to go from here and how to pick myself back up again. I am thinking about doing the ncsbn review and I have the Saunders book coming in the mail. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Just at a loss and heartbroken

Well first I am sorry I can't imagine how you feel... I think you should first figure out or rethink what you think were your week points in the test . Then go from there.

Take a good break first of all, maybe a week or two, longer if needed.

Sorry to hear that. What did you use to study?

Hi! I'm sorry to hear that, but I've been in the same boat just recently... and came out an RN! I used both ncsbn and saunders, and I think those will bother be really helpful. Cheer up (easier said than done, I know...) you can do it!!

I used Kaplan the first time around and it apparently wasn't enough. I am gonna try to use Ati again, even though my tutor is worthless and really doesn't help me to understand concepts I'm missing. And I will try to use hurst and Saunders to help with my content and then I have the la charity book for leadership and delegation questions. Just so much to know not sure how I'll ever know what I need to know to pass

I can't say enough about the Hurst online review. Worth EVERY penny.

I know exactly how you feel. I failed it about 3 weeks ago and yes its embarrassing. I have a job and I got to wear my navy blue RN scrubs one day on my temp license. after my fail posted I got demoted to green scrubs (patient care tech). going to orientation classes with all my classmates in the blue scrubs is tough. so far out of about 90 people taking it from my class, 3 have failed. Its a real bummer. but rest assured, your friends will support you, mine do. take a day or two for your pity party and then pick yourself up by the boot straps and move forward. you cant change the past except by getting ready to pass it the next time.

I have started using exam cram questions and going back through Saunders. I thought questions and content were very similar to Saunders. its hard to get motivated to study but I am bound and determined to pass and I do about 250 question a day.

maybe we can keep each other motivated.

Don't give up, get discouraged, or make excuses...That's what I did. I failed 4 years ago and I'm just now getting ready to take it for the second time, granted I had "life happen" and couldn't study again until now. I was pregnant with twins when I graduate and failed nclex...then I was put on bed rest and in and out hospital for preterm labor. I refused to study even though all I could do was lie around an watch tv. Now I'm so mad at myself for being discouraged back then because I could have study my heart out and even had someone take my to my test in a wheelchair if necessary. But I had never failed anything and felt defeated. I've study and I know im going to past this time(okay there is alittle nervous voice in my head-I just tell it to shut up;)) You have only been delayed 45 days. Study and retake that exam don't give up you can do it.

FOUR years?! You might want/need (or may be required) to take a refresher class.

I took Hurst and a refresher isn't required. I'm scoring low 70's on all my practice question...I do worry a little about my actual nursing skills, as far as performance (catheters etc.) and have considered take a refresher after passing the nclex(usually require a licenses for a refresher course). However I'm very aware I'm not the only one that has been in the situation before and I wont be the last. When my twin boys were 6 months old, my birth control failed, and had a daughter month after my boys turned one...so to say I've been busy is an understatement; I made it through that and I'll make through this as well.

You have been busy!

(My own kids are each 15 months apart. Btdt!)

4 years is a long time. Good luck! (I know some states do require a refresher class. I think it depends on each state though...)
