  1. Mitmit replied to cyde's topic in NCLEX Exam, Programs
    that means you passed CONGATS
  2. I took Hurst and a refresher isn't required. I'm scoring low 70's on all my practice question...I do worry a little about my actual nursing skills, as far as performance (catheters etc.) and have considered take a refresher after passing the nclex(usually require a licenses for a refresher course). However I'm very aware I'm not the only one that has been in the situation before and I wont be the last. When my twin boys were 6 months old, my birth control failed, and had a daughter month after my boys turned one...so to say I've been busy is an understatement; I made it through that and I'll make through this as well.
  3. Don't give up, get discouraged, or make excuses...That's what I did. I failed 4 years ago and I'm just now getting ready to take it for the second time, granted I had "life happen" and couldn't study again until now. I was pregnant with twins when I graduate and failed nclex...then I was put on bed rest and in and out hospital for preterm labor. I refused to study even though all I could do was lie around an watch tv. Now I'm so mad at myself for being discouraged back then because I could have study my heart out and even had someone take my to my test in a wheelchair if necessary. But I had never failed anything and felt defeated. I've study and I know im going to past this time(okay there is alittle nervous voice in my head-I just tell it to shut up;)) You have only been delayed 45 days. Study and retake that exam don't give up you can do it.
  4. Have you review your basic content? Review med surg, peds, pysch and the go back and try Kaplan questions again. Once you know your basic but broad content you should see your scores go up. I feel like content review helped me the most. I used hurst for that and thought it was great...but I haven't passed yet so I don't know if I can be much help.
  5. Have you ever been so excited you made a in the low 70's on some practice test...so what do you do TELL SOMEBODY...RIGHT!!!! Their response "but that's really close to failing...". You try to explain well there's a lot of nursing information, it's unrealistic to be expected to remember it all, we learn as work and will be constantly learning for the rest of our careers, its a really hard test...its not necessarliary the percent of right vs wrong as the percent of higher level questions you get correct...they don't understand. Wannabe RN vs General Public mid 60's "I'm okay with that".... "That's failing..." low 70's "I feel more comfortable".... "That's almost failing I just want you to pass" upper 70's "Wow, I'm so proud of myself, I don't think I could do much better"..."That's good, try for 80% to be really prepared" mid 80's "Yeah right, that must be a typo"..."Now you're getting it" okay so that's a joke...kind of. I really do deal with this my boyfriend(7 years, 3 kids--basically married) and I know he just doesn't want me to fail again for multiple different reason...but trying to explain to someone that a nurse that takes care of human lives is doing good to make a 70....or the more realistic issue; I'm going to take a test that's costing 300 dollars+ hoping a 70 will carry me through. This has happened multiple times, I think I will just rejoice on the boards for now own.
