Hi everyone, I took my Nclex in September and failed with 130 questions bc I ran out of time and didnt get to finish. Than I took it for a second time in November and I was really sure I was ready yet I did worse than the first time. The system shut down on me on 75 questions and I failed it again. Now im super depressed, it has been 3 weeks and I thought by now I would feel better but I still feel depressed, down, without hopes and very sad. Ive never been this deppressed before, I havent even been able to start studying again bc everytime I think about Nclex I get more deppress. The first time i used Kaplan to study. The second time I did HURST twice and did the focus questions from kaplan and I did worse. I noticed when im taking the nclex I take too long per question even when I dont try to it takes me 3 hrs to answer 75 questions. Ive always had problems taking long exams but when I do kaplan I always do atleast 40 to 47 questions per hour and when Im taking Nclex I never seem to be able to do more than 20 to 25 questions per hour. I feel relax when Im taking the Nclex, but for some reason when I start taking this exam I feel like a retard like I forget everything I studied. When I get out of the exam I feel horrible bc of the stupid mystakes I made. Please help, any advice on how to best study to be able to answer this questions faster, and how can I get over my depression. I want to get back to studying to pass this exam, but every morning is a hassle to start a new day and just get up from bed of how depressed I feel.

I found personally spending too much time on a question I'd read too much into the question and pick the wrong answer. Sounds like you should work on your strategy of answering the questions. When I took the Nclex I took the advise of my instructors and picked the first answer I came up with after properly reading the question. I'd resist the urge to change my answer once selected and passed at 75 questions. Try stay positive!! Everything happens for a reason, at least I'd like to believe that.

You need to break down the question to figure out the stem. Maybe you are reading and re-reading because you don't understand what is being asked. I'd advised you to find a book that teaches you how to read NCLEX style questions and discover what the nclex question writer is asking. Check out Saunders 2014-2015 Strategies for Test Success: Passing Nursing School and the NCLEX Exam, 3e (Saunders Strategies for Success for the Nclex Examination): 9781455733194: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com
This book helped me a lot because it showed me what a question is asking for to assess a specific content and how to eliminate answer choices using strategies. I highly recommend this book!

Uhm yeah. If it's taking you 3 hours to finish 75 questions, then you are taking way too long. By taking too long, you probably overthink questions. Stop it. Stop it, I say!

I bought many Questionnaire Books from Saunders and I borrowed some Lippincotts, I would try to answer 100 items or as many as i can for 1 hour. to develop time management and it helped me breaking down those wordy sentences and focus on whats really being asked.
it helped allot in my review center. Im usually top 5 to finish on practice drills and exams and accurate on grades

Try to do this...
1- do simple nursing with Michel linares it will be very helpful to you
2- do Kaplan but do it completely as they say, videos, ebooks, and the q bank!
3- buy NCLEX mastery app! It is just 29 I think and is great
And 4- buy U world that will allow you to study with the app and with the desktop! It is very good
You will spent some money almost 1k but it will be worth it
My advice practice practice practice and don't schedule the exam until you do 1 question in 90 seconds that means 1Q/ min and half ( Kaplan stile Qs) and you need to feel prepare
And every single thing that you don't understand look it up on YouTube! that helped me
You will do it!!! You got this !!!
Good luck
Thank you for your advice yohanes9. I have canceled my exams. I currently have all those resources except uworld. I will replace Michel Linares videos with Judy miller's videos. They said too much resources Confuses you...
Yeah that's right, you have to figure it out which is your weak point! And I forgot to tell you that there's a little doctor in YouTube he is an African American I don't remember his name and he explain very very good!
I think I know who you talking about. Will look!

You should definitely try Uworld! I learned so much and it really helped me think critically. All of my friends who used it passed! And you know what, you're the real winner for picking yourself back up again each time. Take some time off, go out and enjoy life and start fresh. If at first you don't succeed, must dust yourself off and try again!!! You can do it!!!
