Failed my NCLEX

Published

Hi all. I took my nclex for the first time about a month ago. I got all 265 questions. As soon as I walked out of the exam I knew I did not pass. Needless to say it has been a hard month. I am very disappointed in myself. I did very well in nursing school. I used Kaplan and felt that it was not helpful. I have been trying to study since I want to take the exam again soon. I have been using NCLEX RN mastery and an Nclex cheat sheet. I also use YouTube videos if I don't understand a rationale. I feel that I am stuck in a rut. I can't seem to focus on studying and want to just give up. I know I should not feel this way but it's been tough. Also, everyone at my job continues to ask me if I have taken my exam and when I plan on taking it. Ugh! I can't bring myself to say that I took it and failed!! I just have to get back on that horse!! I need to pass!!!

I can only suggest to you what I did as its the only experience I've had with nclex. I went down to the library a got every study guide they had and I used every online q bank I could find. I didn't pay for anything like u world or kaplan. I studied for 2 months intensely at least 5 to 6 hours a day until I started to think like nclex questions bc I did SO many. I passed with 75 questions in about 90 minutes. Of course I thought I failed but I didnt. Also when you're taking it don't panic. Keep calm and don't worry in the middle of the test about how you're doing. It won't help you at all. Read the question and you pick an answer. Try to justify why you like it and why you're discounting the other ones then pick it and move on. Also I had a study buddy for those 2 months. We would read questions and debate answers which I found helpful. She also passed her nclex in 90 questions and she took it the same week I did. Best to you!

Thank you for your input. I have Kaplan as it was given to me in school but unfortunately can not afford Uworld. I am doing questions and answers and looking up a lot of videos on YouTube and I believe it is helping. I appreciate your well wishes!! Congratulations to you and your study buddy on passing!!! í ½í¹‚

Just wanted to share what worked for me. I took my BSN in Australia, graduated December 2013. Moved back to USA 2016. February 2017 I saw the NCLEX for the 1st time with 259 questions and did not pass. I used hurst and nclex mastery app. Second attempt April 21, 2017. Tried UWORLD only. Failed again at 75 questions, couldn't believe i did worst. Applied straight away and took it for the 3RD TIME July 21, 2017. Only used Saunders 7th edition this time around. Tried the PVT and my results were on hold. Two days later i got the good pop up and a day after that my name was on the boards website as a Registered Nurse. If you do not pass, keep on trying. You will pass eventually and because you fail does not make you a bad nurse. GOOD LUCK!! If you lack in content i recommend Saunders 7th edition, it comes with an online portion that's awesome...gives u a pre test and post test, plus lots of practice questions in all formats.

Hello, this sounds exactly like my story, same amount of questions, but I Believed with all my heart that I had passed, until the next morning when I checked state boards.

I have since then been working outside of my healthcare field, because I would get frustrated every time someone would ask about my test, I am thankful for my other trait as a handy man. In have started to read a 30 day devotional about fear, anxiety, worry and it is correlated to scriptures in the bible. I believe in Jesus and the power in the word, this has been lifting me up and getting ready for Nov to re-take the NCLEX again. Here is the link if you would like to check it out. We made through nursing school is what my wife says, this is 1 test, we have taken multiple, keep on, keep strong and God bless you all day long

I am seeking him 2day, I wanted to share this with you
