Hi EVERYONE, this is my first time writing a thread. I just took my NCLEX-RN today and did the whole 265 questions! I am positive I failed because I did the PVT and asked me for my credit card information. I have been crying all day and night. I am planning to take a week off and try it again ofcourse!
I took Hurst Review and thought it was great it cleared things for me but I felt like I wasn't good at prioritizing questions at all! I did some questions from kaplan book, saunders and hurst Q-review. I was getting anywhere between 50s-70s on practice exams.
I am very discouraged and I know is the first night but is there anyone who failed with 265 and then passed? I dont know if I want to spend $500 with Kaplan. I know they send you an analysis so I was planning on reading that and just buying La Charity book that everyone talks about and continue with Kaplan questions.
I studied for like maybe 8-10hrs a day with breaks. I probably did too much and just forgot it all! I was very pressured and did not want to let any one down.
Please give me tips on how you were resilient to pass the second time after 265 on the 1st! I know God is with me and this will just make me appreciate my license that much more!
THank you all!
The performance paper they sent isnt helpful for a person like me. I got near passing on everything. It doesnt tell you what type of questions to review or anything special. It says Disease provention=near passing. So I started brand new and studied everything.
Hi linsmirin! I know what you mean...I got near passing on everything and one above passing. I was like..."so...I guess I have to study everything". The first time around I was just practicing questions....but this time, I am writing down the questions/answers on the questions I get wrong and reading over the content in those areas. Good luck to you...to us!

Hey Im in the same situation, I failed with 265. Before I didnt do questions and basically didnt study. This time Im using Saunders for content review and doing questions everyday from La Charity, exam cram and the Kaplan Qtrainers I got from a poster here on allnurses. My exam is next week so Im super nervous but more prepared than before and I know its because of Saunders and doing questions.I study for 2-4 hours a day and I seem to remember the info because I dont over do it. You have 1 1/2 month before you can retake it if your state is 45 days. Cut down your study time and dont over exhaust yourself. Good luck
linsmirn...I don't know when you are taking your test...but let me know if this study plan works out for you because I am studying exactly that same study materials as you are and also only studying for 2-4 hours a day...some days up to 6-8 hours. I think I over-did it the last time and over-studied...practicing up to 300-400 questions a day instead of 150 questions as recommended. Anyway...good luck!

Hello,
Thanks for replying! Im in NY where do you live? we can do this together and continue to encourage ourselves! I am also using the books you are using:
Im doing Kaplan Qbank during the week and I also make notes on all questions. Until im done with all of them.
Then saturdays I do La Charity (3-4chpts)
and Sundays I do exam cram practice test and review the questions during the week (250 is alot lol) im also planning to redo what I get wrong. I keep track of all that.
Anyway, you are right! We need to continously remind ourselves that WE CAN DO THIS! I'm praying to God every day and night and asking Him to iluminate me when I study and to help me retain everything.
Hi everyone, I took my exam on July 28th and passed my second time. Im going to start a seasonal job in september, one step at a time. Good luck to you all, this exam is doable.
Hi! Thats awesome congrats! How did you study the second time around? Im planning to take it mid september. I received my letter late July and I had near passing and one below passing (physiological adaptation).
Thanks for your input :)

Hi Yaliz! I live in Hawaii. Yes...we can do it! We will pass! I too am also doing the Kaplan Qbank questions. I alternate the text books everyday...doing the Kaplan Strategies book, La Charity, and Exam Cram. I also downloaded a free NCLEX-RN questions app on my iPhone and do that when I'm on the go and don't have my books with me. I have everything I need to pass...all I need now is to believe in myself and believe that God will help me pass! He will help us pass! =) We have to have faith. =)
Good luck to you...to us! Keep us posted! I take my exam in a few weeks...so hopefully I'll be posting good news then. =)

Hi Yaliz! I'm sorry to hear that you didn't pass. I too failed with 265 questions. I was so depressed and cried my eyes out when I did the PVT trick and it brought me to the credit card page. But...we must move on and re-focus! We shall not be discouraged! We can do this! We will pass! I am currently studying the Kaplan Strategies 2011-2012 book, La Charity, and Exam Cram. I am practicing the questions in all the books and writing down the questions/answers I get wrong so I can focus on my weakness and read up on it and try to understand on the content. I am finding myself more confident this time around...really trying my best to focus and tell myself...I WILL PASS. This is what we need to do in order to pass...we need to tell ourselves that we will pass...and most of all...PRAY. He will not fail us if we work hard and try our best. Good luck Yaliz and keep us posted! I know you will pass the second time around! We both will! =)
