Failed my CRNE...

Published

Hello everyone,

I just received a sad letter in the mail saying I failed the June 2013 CRNE. I took the primed course that was offered in Alberta in May and I learned a lot from the prep course. I had reviewed material prior to taking that prep course as well.

I also have the CNA 5th edition book, lipincott's, referred to my med/surg book as well as I did readiness questions in order to prepare for this exam.

I was wondering if anyone has ever failed the first time and successfully passed the second time around? What are some suggestions that had helped you guys became successful? I know that for myself test-taking makes me become really anxious as a I know that I am a weak test-taker.

I feel really depressed right now as I spent one and a half months preparing for this and spent a lot of money on prep materials.. I just feel like jumping off a cliff right now.

OK guys less squabbling. We are all here to help each other and need to remember that English isn't always first language and when we come as an IEN we are not geared up in how to pass CRNE but seek guidance in what we need to do to pass the exam

Take it from someone who wrote for the third time in June 2013 - please don't jump off a cliff!!! You will write again and you will pass .... YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I know you probably don't want to hear this because you want to be where you friends are (the ones who've passed) and rush to take the exam again, but have you considered waiting? Reason why I said this is because I made the exact same mistake and instead of waiting I rushed to write in October without understanding the format of the exam to its full extent -- big mistake -- because I failed again. The second time when I failed I had lost all hopes because I thought 'well I studied why did i fail? if i fail this time what am I going to do differently the third time? if i didn't pass now i'm not going to pass at all'. Well I was wrong because the second time I wrote was no different than the first because I still did not understand the format of the CRNE.

On the third time, when I had gotten over the embarrassment, the crying, the hopelessness, the feeling that I was stupid, etc, I started with fresh, a blank slate. I throw away all the previous notes I had even (they didn't work before so... lol). I took prep courses, online (Canadian Registered Nurse Examination (CRNE) Study Guide ), a weekend prep course ( Canadian Registered Nurse Exam (CRNE) - Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing ) and did over 2,600 practice questions. I never fully understood why they had so many practice questions, but I later did. Doing the practice questions truly helped me understand how to answer the CRNE questions and what they were asking.

Trust me when I say you are not alone. You can do it! In the long run it makes you want it more because you've had to work a lot harder for it.

Good luck!!

Hi mariesearcy

How was the [COLOR=#003366]Canadian Registered Nurse Examination (CRNE) Study Guide? Is it a good online prep course? I will be taking my exam this February and I'm searching for a good online prep course. Please I need some advice on which online prep course to take. Money is tight and I want to choose something that will really help me study.

Thanks

Jem
