Failed AANP

Well, I just took the AANP and failed it. I am so dissapointed in myself. I was scoring 68-72% on the practice exams and predictor exams. I took the Amelie review course and studied that and Fitz review. I just knew I was going to pass and then it came across the screen NOT PASSED. I feel the exam was pretty tough in my opinion. I also freaked out during te exam and had a hard time concentrating on the questions. I am just discouraged and dissapointed.

Now what do I do?

It's an entry level test which is basically ur first year of NP school. Know your assessment norms and abnormals 100%. Also make sure u kind the different examination techniques and the gold standard of DIAGNOSING a particular disease. The exam is quite easy just gotta focus on the basics.

I unfortunately I failed my aanp and I am about to retake it again. I was wondering if they repeat the same test. I saw a couple of comments that they do as well with the ancc. Any thoughts? I am very frustrated...some of the content of the test you known right way, but others you have no clue !

Hey Yasmin! No they do not repeat the exact test (found out from my friends). Although some see it as a walk in the park or an "entry level test" ha! It is anything but that. ALOT of people don't pass their first time regardless of how much they boast.

Saying that, there are some repeated questions, but it will not be the exact test. Best advice- look at your weak areas and focus on them. Know them from front to back. Best of luck sugar and you can do this!!!! God bless!

Just register and take the test again. Unless you get the same test again, you will pass. I was in the same boat as you are about 3 years ago.

I have come to the conclusion it's a money making scam. There are several tests and you never know which one you will get. When I took the test the first time I felt like I was reading something in Hebrew! I can honestly say I was only sure of about two questions on the whole test. I didn't have a clue where any of this stuff was coming from but most of it I had never even heard of! The same day I took that test a BUNCH of people also failed it.

I was devestated like you are now. But I immediately registered to take it again, went ahead and did the silly CEs for everything! Didn't wait for my letter. I was set to test again in three weeks. I studied exactly the same way, didn't change anything!

The second time I took the test I breezed through it in 3 hours where as the first one I didn't think I was even going to finish. Felt confident about most of the questions. Passed easiy. But if I had drawn the first test again, I would have failed it AGAIN! There is just one test out there I don't think anyone can pass unless you get lucky!

So take the test again and hope you get a different test and I am sure you will have no problem!

Good luck on the re-test! you'll do great. I got your pm, but it wouldn't let me reply. Yes, very relieved to pass the ancc fnp test week before last. The familynpprep.com exams were actually really helpful! I even bought one more (#6) the night before to calm my nerves. I think they make #5 a little harder to make you want to buy more... fitzgerald book/cds, buppert book, and practice exams were main study materials. Good luck!

Well, I PASSED!!!! The 2nd time around :). I took the AANP again an I swear it was almost identical to my first exam so I got a little nervous but I knew more this time since I truly studied. God is good! This time I went through Amelie's review book and wrote notecards for each section, redid her review, took plenty of practice exams on familynpprep and was scoring between 480-500s and then completed Amelie's full review book of questions that's orange and white for family NP. I REalLy worked for this one- but praise God! It paid off :). If I can do it-- you can do it! Thank you guys for all of your help through this rocky process. It feels like a big rock has been lifted from me and I am free! Lol :)

Congrats passing! I am sure life is feeling good right now!!! I am very nervous about the upcoming boards so any other words of wisdom you can offer would be great! Did you feel this time around since you were more confident that the questions seemed to be more straightforward vs feeling like you were looking at something foreign on the screen! I have never been so nervous about something in my life that I can remember!!!

It was def less foreign than the first time. I only marked 30? This time out of 150. Last time I marked 55? That I was unsure of. Yes- I am a happy girl! Went bought a Kate Spade to celebrate! It's my NP purse lol :). We have to have rewards!
