Well, I just took the AANP and failed it. I am so dissapointed in myself. I was scoring 68-72% on the practice exams and predictor exams. I took the Amelie review course and studied that and Fitz review. I just knew I was going to pass and then it came across the screen NOT PASSED. I feel the exam was pretty tough in my opinion. I also freaked out during te exam and had a hard time concentrating on the questions. I am just discouraged and dissapointed.
Now what do I do?
I can't believe I finally passed the AANP on the second time around! I thought I had failed since I found the questions more difficult and elaborated than the first time! But God is good and help me pass after so much effort! What I believe that help me pass was Fitzgerald book with the CDs and MAINLY the Zerwekh and Claborn book that has over 1000 practice questions with the CD-ROM that contains all of the questions from the book! I swear I saw a couple of the same question on the aanp and ancc exam! I am planning to sell them together as a package. I don't believe that you need more than those books to pass the exam! I had a lot of cardio, rashes and skin disease, thyroid, respiratory (asthma tx, pneumonia, bronchitis), many eye related problems, STD, assessment for bone related injury. If I pass, yOU CAN PASS! Believe in yourself! Contact me if you need any help...
I passed my exam- 3rd time is a charm they say.
It was hard! But I pressed through and took 3 breaks which gave me the strength to keep pushing through.
Big Dreamer than you for your prayers, support, and encouragement and to our study group- where we argued over mock scenarios and priorities. Yes there were times the RN role came in but we had to beat it down and allow the NP role to rise.
I am still in shock, I look at 4 rooms in our house loaded with paper- you cant even see the carpet. There are books and papers all over the bathroom on the sink, in the linen closet; papers in the kitchen, by the stove, on the fridge, on the sink; a mountain of paper and books in the den, in the study; in my car, the trunk, in my pocket books, and in my bedroom- even under my pillow (index cards). yes the index cards, I had about 500 of them. I shut down cell phone convos except for our study group and taped my shows. I relaxed- took time to meditate, workout- this helped, and watch comedy shows.
Then I would start up conversations with friends about how I would work up a pt with certain symptoms and they would look at me crazy and say, "Girl what is wrong with you." And I would smile to myself because they did not know it but they were helping me solidify what I was studying. And my prayer circle

Congratulations!!!! I can image how relieved you are to not have to deal with the exam anymore!! So they repeated many of the same questions on the exam? Which areas did they focuse the most? I am anxious bc I will retake my aanp next week! All the best!
