I study CRAM and did the practice questions.

What do I do please

I need all the help I can get.... I won't give up..

Thanks so much in advance for sharing

Hi Nikki. Don't get discouraged.. I failed my first time.. made it to about 90 questions, so I failed pretty badly. I never understood the people who claimed that they barely studied and still passed because for me at least it took A LOT of studying and commitment. My second attempt I gave myself about 2 months to study before taking the test. I used Kaplan & Exam Cram, I spent at least 2-3 hours a day (rest on weekend) reading through the chapters, making flashcards on the important material (pharmacology, diagnostic tests, varying disorders and symptoms) and then once I finished the books, I spent those hours a day going over flashcards and doing hundreds of practice questions. I didnt do flashcards my first attempt, so i noticed a huge difference my second time! I took them everywhere with me.. to work, to my friends house, I studied them every chance i got. As the date got closer, I focused more on questions. I did thousands total. I committed almost all of my free time to studying. I even cut back hours at my full-time job, working about 30 hours a week. My second attempt, I passed with 86 questions. It takes a lot of commitment but it's worth it! I love being a nurse! Just keep trying.. you'll get it :)

Thanks dear... I never did flash cards. I never did in PN school. ... but I use to do great in class. But I'm going to try flash cards they won't bites. I appreciate the encouragement. I'm going to try study by book because I use to study every book at one. .they all use to be open in front of me. I think that's an issue to for me. I will do the flashcards. Thanks again

I did alot of the free flashcards you can get online like quizlet.com... i found the nclex to be more about how you feel about safety based on your life experiences than what you read in a book. knowing how to abc/maslow if good to know. I didnt relate much of what i learned in the two weeks that i studied to what was on the test cause it was all gut instinct on stuff i've never heard of. but k now about gi stuff and diabetes. there is a software thing calle prep-u that lets you take test based on the types of topics on the nclex such as safety,,its good and its about 100 bux i think... its worth it. if you have that,, a red book called exam cram, and free flash cards,, thats all u ever need i think.... and dont panic on test. just read some lab values the day before cause staying up late studying is a waste of time the day before the test, its too late to learn nursing at that point. and you need a fresh mind...

study the rationals well on the nclex questions you do.

Prior to my NCLEX I heard a lot of people from the class before me saying how hard it was so I studied my butt off and passed the first try with minimum questions. I studied from to NCLEX prep books. Pretty much read them cover to cover and took a bunch of questions over and over again. Today the internet has a lot of stuff to offer that wasn't as available when I was going to school (probably because much of America was still using dial up connections) that would probably be helpful as far as additional questions and rationale. Like another poster, I found the NCLEX to be very different from school. A lot of safety and even more you have patients A,B,C and D. Which one do you go assess first? Follow your ABCs! Also, a testing tip? Your first answer is usually right. Unless you are positive that it is wrong, don't change your answers after you've clicked a choice! Good Luck!

Try the review from the NCBSN. Their review is awesome. First they are the ones who writes the test. 2nd you get over 1,300 test question. 3rd they are not as expensive as some reviews I have seen. They also give you detailed rational explanations! Good Luck!

My student friends shared all our 6 NCLEX practice books. Our instructors told us it really did not matter if we took classes for test practice, but to do it if we wanted. They sometimes know the newest questions on the tests from test takers.

Our Instructor stated there are only so many ways to ask the same questions. If you study enough you will pass.

I actually cursed when my test stopped., I was sure I failed

Assess yourself first & know your weak area and just go from there. If you lack in content, try saunders. Wanna practice q&a? There are a lot of free sites for that. I could send you some links, just pm me if you need it.

Best of luck! :)

Naldzzz.... Please do. ... I would greatly appreciate it
