renew nursing license concern
Do not lie on questionnaire for renewal. If you were not charged, you should not have to put it on your renewal, but read it carefully, so you are truthful

fail Nclex PN 2nd time
My student friends shared all our 6 NCLEX practice books. Our instructors told us it really did not matter if we took classes for test practice, but to do it if we wanted. They sometimes know the newest questions on the tests from test takers. Our Instructor stated there are only so many ways to ask the same questions. If you study enough you will pass. I actually cursed when my test stopped., I was sure I failed

Was Pharm a biggie on the nclex-rn?
I only had about 2 questions of pharm math, did have several med related questions, not too hard. I do remember taking pharm math in school. We had to have a 90 %. We had argued it was not fair because 70% was passing. Our instructor told us he would not change it. Reason being, if we got a 90%, that meant we maybe only killed 10% of our patients.

advice? so depressed.
It is stressful, demanding, and will continue to be. Just keep in mind of your end goal. My classmates/friends were my strength. Some of my classmates seem to slide by without even trying, but it was more difficult for me. I started LPN school 2 weeks after Hurricane Andrew. We started because 38 out of 40 showed up to class on 1st scheduled day. I had to study from dawn to dusk (no electric), travel 5 days a week, almost 20 miles from Homestead to the school through Miami without traffic lights first few months.... Kinda sounds like "walking to school in the snow, when I was a boy, going uphill both ways"...... Take it one day at a time. If you have time to watch TV and be on computer, you have time. Use it wisely and do anything not school related

Is Nursing the hardest job out there?
Nursing stressful at times, but the rewards must be measured against the stress. I did my 5 years in hospitals, was stressful, but my coworkers and I made up for it with humor. Had it easier when I went to 12 hour shifts. Was able to do my charting during the 8 hour change of shift report. Then learned and made my schedule to work 6 days in a row and then had 8 off.

Thinking about quitting nursing school
STICK IT OUT! Hang in there and learn from your instructors. They are there to help you learn, grow, and become better. It will be a long learning experience.

Being Bullied
If she is not doing the same to your co workers, and everyone is being helpful to you except this person. Speak with your co workers and see if she has done this to them or others before. Maybe if you broke down the other day in front of DON and NP and things did not change, or not one of them tried consoling you, you may be too sensitive. My first year as LPN I thought my name was "Jesus", I had a great Charge Nurse and always went to her for any questions...LOL, she always answered them though. Within 1 1/2 years when I was GN soon to be RN, she was ready for me to be her back up Charge Nurse.

How do you shake off the horrible?
EAP or talking it out to other Nurses. I still have memories of my first death observation experience when one of my pts was getting blood and had expired during the infusion, (Not Related!), the daughter's were there and were asked if they wanted to view the body. They came in room and while we were laying the HOB down the pt left out some withheld air. The dgt's freaked, actually hit me on the arm and stated she was still alive and to help her NOW. It took at least 5 mins for them to believe she had passed. Things hang with you forever. Learn by it, embrace it ....you can't change it.

How far would you commute for awesome salary?
Get what you can, when you can, and better it as soon as you can. I once took a 2.00 an hour cut to stop a commute to South Miami. It took me more than 3 years to get that back. It was usually a 20-60min commute depending on traffic. I would not do that now but at the time it was realistic as a new RN
