I have a quick question about the FAFSA. I am going to start an accelerated nursing program on June 1st. My question is: Does the 2008/2009 FAFSA cover this summer? Or does the 2009/2010 FAFSA cover the months during this summer? I have tried to figure this out on my own but I am not sure, so if anyone knows I would appreciate the answer.

Ask the financial aid office at the school where you are applying. It depends on what they consider to be their award year, and how they use the FAFSA.
Okay, thanks I will do that. I was thinking that it was standardized. I will check with them tomorrow. Thanks again.

I am sure it's the 2009/2010, but just to be on the safe side, ask your financial advisor.

Again...check with your school, but for me, for the last two years, the prior year of that summer is what the FAFSA applies too. My school said that the current years FAFSA ex: 2009-2010 will start applying in the fall semester. So the FAFSA for 2008-2009 will be used to calculate financial aid for this Summer
Thanks for the responses everyone. I was just curious because most of the limit for my Stafford was used up during this current school year completing my prerequistes, and although I should still have some left over for this summer there is not very much left at all. I will check with financial aid.

The 2008/2009 FAFSA covers this summer. I had to go to the financial aid office and fill out this sheet that transferrred funds left over from the Spring term to the Summer term. I hope this helps!

2008/2009 will cover this summer's semester. 2009/20010 will start with this fall's semester and end next summer provided you have funds left. If you are a full time student both fall and spring semesters, you usually will not have funds left for the summer semester.
