There are requirments required and you have to apply to a school of nursing and I believe they will organise or assist you in F1 It will be expensive as there will be overseas fees to pay, you have to show you can finance yourself whilst in the US as job wise you will be very limited in what you can do whilst on F1

Hopefully someone will be able to give you further knowledge, good luck

Nursing programs in the US require a certain number of pre-requisites for the Assciate degree, which makes it about a three year program. Since you will have a BS degree, you may qualify for some second courser programs, but as posted above, tuition for you as an F-1 student will be quite expensive, much more than for the American student. We have a variety of types of programs that are offered here, please do a search on this forum and it will give you all of the information that you will need.

hello niks, i am from india too and curently a nursing student in philadelphia. if u are looking for a f1 visa, you have to secure admission into a school for BSN , as ADN won't work. do some research to know which part of US u wanna go based on fees, etc. let me know if u have any more questions.

good luck!

Ravneet, thanks a lot..How long BSN takes to finish?

Can u suggest any university (ofcouse good but cheap)?

What kind of exams do I need to clear before applying for Addmission and Visa?

nikks, the sole criteria of granting u a student visa(f1) would be an assumption that u won't stay in US after u finish ur studies. if u plan to come here for nursing, these are the facts that wud work against u-

-> nursing is very cheap/affordable in india, so why US?

-> with an impending shortage of nurses in US and high pay scales, why shud i believe u wud come back?

this is wat a visa officer wud probably question u, be sure u meet some visa counseller, or prepare compelling answers to these questions.

that aside, i am not sure which schools are the best, but i wud look for u. gimme a day or two. where i live (philadelphia), temple univ. is good and affordable. BSN=4yrs.

u dont need any tests like GRE for admission, u might require SAT i am not sure, u wud have to refer to each school's admission requirements. TOEFL wud definately be required.

if you are wondering how i got the F1 visa, well i came here to do master's after doing engg. in india. jobs were scarce here, so i switsched to nursing after a year.

pm me for more queries.

good luck!

Sorry, but that is wrong information, the ADN also qualifies for the F-1 in the US. There are many students that I work with in their clinicals that are in Community College programs that are ADN and are under the F-1 status.

hey nikks, the cheapest nursing school ive found for bsn is in puerto rico at either metropolitan university or the inter american university. i am a us guy who is looking to go to nursing school in india, any cheap ones there?
