I am a new LPN and was wondering what experience I would need to work in an inpatient hospice unit?

Would experience in LTC be enough especially if they had their own hospice unit?

If you have experience working in the hospice unit, then make sure you put that on your application, it will surely help. When I started I had NO experience other than family, but gained a lot working. Good luck, I find working in Hospice very rewarding and now that I am off on disability, I find that I miss it terribly.

Specializes in hospice, corrections.

I was hired at hospice with no nursing or CNA experience! I was scared at first, but then loved it! Any experience working with families and patient education helps. Good Luck! I still love working hospice inpatient.

Having really good people skills. Hospice work is one part nursing, one part social work.
